Default Ways to secure a plasma?

This is a bit of a strange question. Hopefully I can make it understandable? I have my panasonic G-15 sitting on the center section of my entertainment center. Because it is sitting on the base, and our entertainment center has L/R columns, the screen is recessed some.

I'd like to find a way to move it forward so that it's flush with the side pieces. Obviously the standard base piece won't work and any idea that I come up with needs to be very solid as my wife is concerned it won't be safe (top heavy).

Are there any kind of bases sold out there from 3rd parties? Any creative ideas?

Default custom build

You can try and do what pioneer did with its bases for the kuros mine came with 2 L shaped brackets to attach to the rear sides of the base and then drill screws thru that to w/e its sitting on

That's one idea...but I don't that I want to drill into the furniture. I might be able to be convinced, but I know my wife would object. Can't be sure that we'll always be using it for this TV, etc, etc.
Something more stand alone would be better.

I understand your reluctance to drill into your furniture, but I don't think you'll be able to secure your plasma without physically anchoring it to something.

If you are fairly handy, you could try to create your own base. a U-shaped base with some sort of weight at the ends of the U could allow you to have the base be flush with the front of the entertainment center and still not tip over. Or, if the panasonic base is Hollow or open on the bottom, you could try to add weight to the back half of the base to offset the weight of the televsion from tipping forward.

Any chance of using the wall behind the entertainment center? Maybe false ceiling wire could be attached to the TV and have the other end attach to anchors or hooks which could be attached to studs on the wall. If I am understanding correctly, the wall behind the entertainment center directly behind the TV would not be visible.

The wall is too far back...it's a fairly deep entertainment center. Obviously designed before flat panels were big, but we really like the piece.
Probably, creating something custom is going to be my best option. The question is, can I make something that is both stable and attractive? And, is it worth it?

If the entertainment center is deep enough, you may be able to create a wall type thing that fits behind your tv as a counter-weight (run false ceiling wire from the top of the tv to this wall).

My idea is too build a box to fill the space. Slide it in from the back if there are trim pieces covering the front, this would be best that way it can't be pulled out from the front. Put some felt on all sides so is slides easily and so you don't damage the finish on the entertainment center then you can slide the entire box, tv and all to set the depth exactly how you want it.

Hope this makes sense. acritzer I sent you a PM as well

Get Tilting/Swiveling Type wall mount bracket and pull it from the wall the distance you want.

My other thought was Gorilla Glue. At least he wouldn't have to drill holes in the Entertainment Center.

That looks really good. I wonder how secure it would be when fully extended? But, alas my wife is really giving me a hard time about it, so I'm just going to hav to bide my time.
