What do you guys think of the following article? Has HD-DVD finally reached it's demise?

dead link....
edit: back working it's pretty much a fluff piece. while i agree that the format will not be the winner, it simply isn't time yet to conclude this. that being said, i hear a women starting to clear her throat. Last edited by theknub; 07-23-2007 at 10:19 PM. |

It's the outcome that I think is inevitable, but word would have to come from more credible sources for me to believe it.

Sounds like some guy just hating on HD-DVD, and someone is taking him pretty serious and trying to back up his claim with a rep from Toshiba. Like they are going to admit defeat!! They'll come up with some excuse, they won't admit defeat.

They can go ahead and keep cranking that garbage out and let that dead format drown in the rubbish. I couldn't be LESS worried. ![]() |

Look at the Nielson numbers that have been published since Uni started their catalog assault. In that time, the SI ratio has increased to 60/40 from either 58/42 or 59/41. Sure, that's only 1 or 2 percent, but that's in total sales. The latest numbers, from the week of July 10th, showed BD up for the week 61/39, and that was with NO BLU-RAY releases! So even when they're the only game in town, so to speak, BD has more consistent demand. And, add one more to that, since one of my friends got a PS3 and is buying BD movies.

Checking CC's website, they have the Tosh HDA2 for $238.88 and the HDA20 for $329.99. Maybe there is some merit to the above article stating the Tosh is selling off their players.
