Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans BD Release - Blu-ray Forum

Just like to point out that that current BD release date on this site is no longer correct. (https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=3601)

The movie is now in a limited city run starting Nov. 20, it does a little wider (almost double the screens) on Nov. 25 and hopefully everywhere in December.

Would be great if someone could change that entry to TBD, so people don't think this is a direct-to-video or that it makes more sense to just wait and get the disc.

This is really a darn good audience movie and has a very difference experience in the theater with a bunch of people than at home.

Go watch the movie, it's gotten some darn good reviews, 4-stars from Ebert if you agree with him, NYT, LAT, WSJ and more.

I look forward to seeing this one, it got a good write up in the paper saying Nic Cage did an excellent job and is pretty out there... Would have to be to follow Harvey Keitel's performance in the first one. Hopefully no Nic Cage dangling bits though

It's quite a different movie from Abel's version. There's no Catholic guilt in this one and no dangling bits of that nature

I'm partial but I have to say, it's a wild trip. Between Werner Herzog and Nicolas Cage, and here's we're talking Nicolas Cage unleashed, there's plenty of brilliant moments and lines.

Well, not really coincidental. There is a degree of commonality in the too films. Roger Ebert tells a somewhat accurate story in this review:

"Gee, I dunno," Pressman says. "Maybe we should change the title. How about talking a line from the screenplay? How about calling it 'Port of Call, New Orleans' "?

"We will compromise," Herzog says with that Germanic precision he uses when explaining something he needs to make clear. "We will call it 'Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call, New Orleans.' "

Sure and obviously you know more about it than I but when things like 'remake' and such are getting thrown around (I think I remember when this film was announced nearly everyone including the trades like Variety were saying Cage was doing the Keitel role) that isn't accurate. In the words of Ebert, the comparisons are 'completely pointless'.

Absolutely. It definitely isn't a sequel and neither is it a remake. It's a new script based around a similar premise of an imperfect cop in a tough town.

Werner never even saw the 1992 version before he directed this one.

When you watch the movie, make sure to spot out for the writer, he's in it

I want to see this movie so much, but no dates yet for my area. This site says it is coming out in Feb on blu-ray. That is going to be a great month for me, with Contempt, Hunger, Lola Montes, Revanche, and now this in Feb.

Been curious about this movie and never came to a theater near me. Amazon just lowered it to $14.99, so may have to blind buy at that price.

Since the price dropped before release date, Amazon should automatically charge you the lowest price, per their guarantee. It's just lucky they dropped the price now, rather than next week.
