Made this thread for the new member, rossom. He writes:
Extreme apologies to all for placing this post here but as I am a new member to this forum and am thus unable to create a new thread of my own. I hope nobody takes any offense to this but I was hoping that a pre-existing member could make a thread out of the following post as I am on my last wits trying to get this problem fixed. Apologies again to any inconvenience caused to any member or to anyone offended by this post. Thank you in advance to any forthcoming help "First post so don't be too harsh! Was given the N+ router today as my old one broke. Works fine for all the laptops and computers in my house but when it came to setting up the connection for the PS3 I'm having huge difficulties. Every time I go to wireless settings I go to scan to find the wireless connection but it says access point cannot be detected. If i manually enter in the SSID and enter in my WEP key an 8001000A error comes up an i cannot connect to the internet. SSID is broadcasting from the router and wireless channel is set to auto (currently broadcasting 1). I am completely stumped at what to do as it seems that my PS3 is not even detecting the router. And yes I do know now that this router is renowned for its incompatibility with the PS3. However, any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! " |

I have a Belkin N1 router, and even once I get it to connect, I lag like you wouldn't believe. I put my PS3 in the DMZ, put it closer to the router (I have 85% signal sometimes 92%) and it still lags. If I were you I would get a different router.

I just got rid of my Belkin and D-Link because I've had nothing but problems. I should have never chosen them over Linksys. I bit the bullet and went out and bought a Linksys and haven't had a problem since.
I know i'm not helping you with your problem but I spent a good week researching and never found an answer. Tech support is incredibly terrible as well. I spent about 30 minutes on the phone so that the guy can tell me my router is not compatible with Windows 7 only to find out that it is... His suggestion? By a new Dlink router, how shocking. I hope you are able to fix your problem but it was too much hassle for me after going around in circles and not finding a solution. |

@rossom
I understand how you feel. I was so frustrated with this issue that I registered just to post how I managed to fix it. It's quite simple: Disable the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS in the menu). In my case this was enough, now I'm able to use WPA2-PSK AES and UPnP on the PS3. The speed/range ratio the N+ achieves is just amazing. Hope this helps |
