Default Pioneer VSX-9130TXH-K

I just ordered this receiver when it was a Lighting Deal On Amazon for 499.00 regular price is 999.00. I was wondering is this a good receiver? Anyone have any experience with it?

Pioneer makes excellent receivers. It will decode all of the HD audio you need if your player can't bitstream, and Pioneer's are usaully close to spec with thier power output when running 5/7 channels, not to mention their efficiency and processing abilities. I think you got an amazing deal on a good mid-level receiver.

I had the one step below that, the VSX-9120. Very capable receiver. I was thoroughly happy with how it performed. As forsberg said, it decodes all the HD codecs, and has enough power for most speakers. The sound is also quite nice. Good quality receiver at a decent price. Be happy with it.

I am thinking about jumping on this receiver, VSX-9130TXH currently $300 off, @ a Canadian Distributor, Total price $598.99 CAN.

Couple questions.

I currently own the Yamaha HTR-6160B does this one (Pioneer) have a sufficient step up on the Yamaha? One thing I noticed is its 3HDMI In as oppose to the 2 HDMI in on my Yamaha. Anything else?

Another question, is how does this Pioneer stack up with there Elite Models that Pioneer sells? I wish I could afford them, but they seem to be too much out of my price range, especially up here where we get shafted in Canadian Dollars. My city really only has one Pioneer Elite Dealer.

Reason I am looking at Pioneer is I recently purchased one of the last line of Plasma's the Pioneer Kuro 5020FD. and would like to team it up with a Pioneer Receiver or even an Elite Receiver.

Thoughts?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the only way the receiver will decode the HD audio is if the player bitstreams?

No correcting needed Justin, that was a typo...it should say it will decode all of the HD audio "when your player can't decode HD audio" when set to bitstream.

Default Pioneer VSX-9130txh

I just picked it up at bestbuy (Canada) for 499.99

considering this is basically a VSX-03TXH (ELITE) i thinks it a very good deal!.

hmm, look at the spec page for the 03thx
http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...SX-03TXH?tab=B

now try and look at the one for the vsx9130
http://www.pioneerelectronics.ca/POC...TXH.Kuro?tab=D

why is nothing listed - maybe they dont want to revile they are identical

I got this as an upgrade to my Onkyo 606. (hope it is)- main reason it that it has pre outs so i can slap a Emotiva amp under later on.

the only down side in my upgrade is that i moving from 4 hdmis to 3 and considering i ran out on the onkyo and had to use a monoprice hmdi switch im gonna have to by another one. ah well better than paying another $300 to get an reciver with more

I can't seem to find that model on bestbuy.ca. Do you have a link and was this a sale price or something?

I personally went in today also, because the website has no listings of this model. Sure enough they did a scan on there inventory computer. It came up with one model, (Demo) which was on the floor and being used at the time being. It had a sticker on it, "Open Box Item" Sale price. $400.00 someting dollars is what I made it out.

Sales man said it was last years model thats why. I don't get it. It shows up on Pioneer's Site To.

Hope that helps,
