Default New subwoofer recommendations?

Hi folks. I currently have a Polk RM6750 subwoofer which came with a home stereo set. The back says its 100 watts. Receiver is Yamaha RX-V465. I'm looking to get a better subwoofer but not sure what is good and what is not. Just look for higher wattage? Sometimes I hear the sub go past its limits and it kind of sounds bad so I want to improve this. Just looking to upgrade. Thanks

First, you would get the most and best help if you post this in the subwoofer forum found here.

As for your question, there's a lot more to look at than just wattage. It would help to know your budget, room size, size limitations of the sub, whether you'll be using it for music or HT, and any other needs such as you need a particular color, etc..

Okay. I will repost there. To answer the questions though.

I'm looking to spend about 100-150 if possible. Color would be black. Uses would be mainly home theater. No size limitations for the sub itself really. Room size is about 15x17. Thanks

Look at the HD-SUB10
http://www.thedeepdiscount.com/p-208...-watt-sub.aspx

Or this
http://www.thedeepdiscount.com/p-544...eater-sub.aspx

The first one has a lower extension 20 hz v 24 hz, and it has a higher watt amp.

Here is the site where you can look up all the ones they have. There really isn't a difference between the PSW and RW

I think they are good subs . They have an aluminum driver & I had never heard one untill I got my Dayton & it has an amazing sound quality to it . I will replace my 10" & 12" sub drivers with new Dayton drivers in the future .

it doesn't seem to get very low only 30 hz. You should look into the Acoustic Audio HD-Sub10. I have it and it works wonderfully.

Okay. The Acoustic Audio HD-Sub10 and the PSW-12 12" sound good but, which one? And why is the 12" cheaper? Trying to learn about this stuff as I go along. Thanks for your help.

the 12" is less expensive because the amp is not as powerful and the frequency response doesn't go as low. The 10" is a better overall sub.

Interesting. I don't know much about this stuff but I always thought a bigger woofer would have a bigger bass response and low end.

Yes . Your sub does not need to be the same name brand as your speakers !
