In reality he lost his job when he lost to Navy. No way he was coming back after that. It was 10 wins or bust for him. I think this cements Jimmy Clausen and Golden Tate going pro. They probably would have anyway but there is no reason to stay with a new coach. I'd love to have Weis come back to the Patriots, and I think he should join the team right away and not wait until next season. He has a great relationship with Brady and knows the system well.

He has a great relationship with another Brady (Quinn) and I bet there will be a job opening in Cleveland soon........

(I don't want him as Cleveland's coach..... just sayin' )

It's not out of the question that Mangini could try to hire him as offensive coordinator. Not sure what kind of relationship they have from their days in New England, but Mangini could try to show he's worth another year if he gets an offensive coordinator like Weis. Weis is going to be in demand though, and I'm not sure he'd want to go into a situation like Cleveland if he has better offers. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter Weis has already been contacted by 6 teams. I don't think money will be a huge factor, as he's getting $18 million from Notre Dame.

Like any of you wouldn't trade your teams success over the last decade for the Patriots, despite Spygate, with the possible exception of the Steelers and Colts.

Pats got lucky with that first superbowl... the worse call in possibly the NFL history.. If it werent for the "tuck play" (clear fumble)... pats lose that game and the dynasty never gets started...

But yah im just a bitter Raider fan... Pats are one of the most successful teams ive ever seen play in the NFL..

Prolly in the top 4 franchises in NFL history... Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys & Patriots

Not exactly "Breaking News" per say. This was inevitable, just a matter of time as to when they were going to announce it. Nice find still

Odds are Kelly is the next coach. They'll go after Urban Meyer (already said he's not interested) and Bob Stoops, who has said he's not interviewing with Notre Dame but hasn't flat out denied interest, but if they can't get Stoops Kelly is the most likely candidate. Kelly has probably peaked at Cincinnati and until they get better facilities they won't be able to compete long term with teams like Florida and Texas.
