Has anybody gotten this release off Amazon? I'm a Beethoven fan and this could be a great disc, but I can't find any reviews or opinions.

I don't have and/or have heard nothing about this particular release...but I have (3) other Medici releases and have been VERY happy with them.

I have the Pyongyang Concert – New York Philharmonic Orchestra , the Bach:Brandenburg Concertos 1-6, and the Herbert von Karajan Memorial Concert (check out reviews on this forum)

PQ and AQ are superb and the performances are wonderful...I've been tempted to pick up the Beethoven as well.

Here's a review of the iconic 1963 DG Beethoven Symphonies set on audio blu-ray. I didn't even know these audio blu-rays existed.

I bought this set on vinyl when it came out and I loved it. I was in high school. It's probably still in a record box I exiled to the basement decades ago.

I'm pretty sure I paid about $25 for it which at the time seemed like an awful lot. The inflation calculator says that is $196.27 in today's dollars so I guess it was.

I just bought the new set on Amazon for about $30 including tax. Now that's a real bargain. I'd like to thank Jeffrey Kauffman and the site for the review.

Personally, I don't see any point to blu-ray audio unless it includes multichannel mixes. The CD release of these recordings would sound exactly the same to human ears and can be had used for $10.

Uncompressed Blu-ray audio is quite a lot better than CD quality, and the entire set fits on one disc. Also, why is it some film buffs who are usually adamant that video be presented in original aspect ratio only have a need for fake surround effects to be added to the original stereo or mono recording? These concerts would have been recorded and broadcast in 1.0 or 2.0, why would you even want them in a 5.1 or 7.1 mix? I see this in a lot of concert threads -- "surround sound or no purchase!!!" -- and I just don't get it.
