Cool

I have a stiffie just from reading all that great news!!!!

The only bad thing I read was about the film Zodiac, which was delayed indefinitely by Paramount. But even this story has a silver lining. When asked why Paramount cited they wanted to make a special edition for the hi-def format, so it will be released sometime in the future, just not anytime soon.

I would be interested in seeing HD DVD fans try to put together a list of "good news for HD DVD" instead of shooting down everything positive for Blu-ray. I bet it wouldn't take very long for them to make their list.

Why? Have any retailers decided to drop blu-ray and only sale HD DVD?

Where did you read this? And The Host was just released on blu-ray, or is it something entirely different?

It's in the front page article about Optimum going blu-ray. But this is for the UK only.

No it wouldn't take long - there hasn't been much. Only time will tell how any of these announcements affect anything.

I believe we are still at a stage where people aren't just buying blu-ray or HD DVD players on a whim. They may have heard about it and have looked in to buying it. All the store announcements do is make more people aware of blu-ray in general. But for the most part, someone buying from Target, BJ's or any other place is most likely walking in knowing they are going to buy it.

Product awareness is big though, so these are all still big announcements. How it affects consumers will unfold in the next few months.

Every anouncement that a store is going Blu just reminds people that they are choosing a side and that side is Blu. It's just like VHS/Betamax back in the day, except this time the quality is going to win out over the cheapness of production.

I feel like I'm getting really spoiled. Every time I log in to the forum here I expect to see another big announcement. This has really been a super week and the Neilsen numbers were like icing on the cake
