Default PS3 Blu Ray Remote

Upon my purchase of 300 on Tuesday I was planning to pick up the blue ray remote control for the PS3, but I wanted to know who else had it and if it's really more worth-while than the SIXAXIS controller. Please let me know.

[Sorry if this is in the wrong spot]

Its nice, but try the controller first. If you like the controller keep it. Only reason I bought the remote was for my wife. $23 at walmart.

I bought it for $20 used at Gamespot. It looked perfect -- like new.

After I bought it, the Gamespot employee told me all of their used stuff was stolen.

I don't mind the controller, but does the remote offer buttons for the Options brought up in the "triangle menu"? Also is it USB rechargeable or use batteries.

One thing that's annoying with the controller is having to turn it on to pause and if I leave it on I'll bump it or the kids will.

Default Stick with Controller

I also debated this question as well.

Once you get the hang of the controller, it's really quite easy to use. The only downside is that if you simply toss the controller, you might accidentally trigger an R1/R2 or L1/L2 buttons. What I do is after I start a movie, I turn off the controller.

Also, I hear that the PS3 remote sucks up batteries!!!

If it's on sale or you happen to get one for free, go ahead and use it, otherwise, I do not recommend. In Canada, it's $40!!!! So that's like, what.....$38 USD???

The remote has all the buttons on the ps3 controller along with your normal dvd remote functions.

Mine was $25 after tax from walmart. Yes it uses standard batteries. It looks just like a Sony tv remote with ps3 buttons added.

that sux, I probably won't get it. I use a Harmony 880 for everything else so I don't even buy batteries for that. I hate non rechargable batteries. well thanks any way everyone.

I bought my PS3 Remote at Circuit City about 3 weeks back for $19.99 on sale. I love it and would not be without it. So far the batteries that came with it have been holding up just fine. I don't see where the battery life has been "sucked" out of them at all.

Buy one, you will be glad you did...

Yeah, it has buttons on it with all of the Sony shapes you'll find on the controller... triangle, square, circle, X...

I bought it because it's a "real" remote that everyone in the family is familiar with as oppossed to a game controller.

For $20 or $25, it's cheap for a remote.

Works great and I'm still on the original set of batteries since April.

I feel like the remote is a must. The controller isn't that bad once you get used to it. But I have others who want to operate the PS3 and I'm sure they don't want to take the time to figure out what all the buttons do. Plus it makes the PS3 feel like a stand alone player, not just a gaming system that plays movies.

I love the remote. As a matter of fact, I wish other devices utilized bluetooth instead of IR!!!

That's my main dilema. My wife doesn't care about it or blu-ray for that matter. I'm the main user and I don't know how much I'll use it my self. I may just buy it. I don't know.

I also love how I don't have to leave a controller on your coffee table.. looks ghetto to me.

I purchased the BR remote for the simple fact that I dont want to have to "baby" the PS3 controller to keep it from advancing or jumping scenes. Before I purchased the remote, with every viewing I was trying to find the spot that I watching after an accidental nudge. Didnt help that I wasn't quite sure of the button assignment on the controller at that time. Also using the PS3 controller while watching movies seems to detract from a high-end movie watching experience...but this is only one man's opinion.

The remote is also nice because you know the standard layout of the butttons and don't have to try to remember what button you need to push to do the function you want.

Actually, $25 for a remote is pretty darn cheap. I recently had to replace my Denon receiver remote, which is much smaller than my PS3 remote, and it was $60!
