Default LOST Season Play problems

I own LOST S1 thru S5, I started watching S1 with a Sony BDP350 and didn't have a problem using Season Play, later I changed my BD Player for a Samsung 3600, and started playing S2 but for some reason I cannot save my Season Play, so every time I stop in the middle of something I have to start the whole thing back, and just advance to the part I left it.
Is there something I can do about that, is it the Blu or the player?

Season play won't let you pick up exactly where you stopped, but works on an episode-to-episode basis.

For example, let's say you've watched episode 1 all the way to the end credits. The moment the blu-ray moves to the next chapter (beginning of episode 2), it saves that information on the hard drive so next time you use season play, you'll be at the start of episode 2.

If, however, you stop playing during the end credits that information won't be saved and you'll be back to the beginning of episode 1. It happend on multiple occasions with my discs, so I always made sure to watch until the end credits are all done and the discs moves on to the next episode.

Is that your question? Is that the problem you're experiencing?

I'm using a PS3 for playback, by the way.

No I used to have a Sony BD Player 350, and it would usually start wherever I left off, it doesn't work with my Samsung, and I don't know why...

My ps3 picks up exactly where I stopped it.

To the OP, do you have any form of memory inserted into the player?

This might sound like a stupid question, but are you selecting Season Play every time you start, or are you just playing pressing play each time? You have to access the Season Play feature itself each time to pick up where you left off.

Just for the heck of it, have you checked to see if the latest firmware has been flashed to your blu ray player? Vendors typcially develop updates for the firmware. You may want to see if you have the latest firmware. Just a thought. Good luck on that.

I think it's a problem with the Samsungs. I have a BD-P1590 upgraded to 2.05 firmware (which should be the same firmware version for BD-P3600) and cannot for the life of me get SeasonPlay to work. If I press stop in the middle of watching an episode, then press play, it will bring me back to the main menu where SeasonPlay works and will let me resume from where I left off. But as soon as I press power off on my player, the SeasonPlay info is lost. When I turn my player back on, it prompts me if I want to create a new SeasonPlay profile and then assumes I start at Disc 1, Episode 1. Very sad and annoying! I also have a 4GB USB drive connected to my player.

Well Samsung wrote me back, but weren't too helpful:

Dear Samsung Customer,

Thank you for contacting Samsung Electronics.

With reference to your email, we understand you are unable to resume the playback of the SeasonPlay while creating the profile on your Blu-ray Player BD-P1590.

Blu-ray discs with BD-Java cannot be resumed by the player automatically. The studios are responsible for disc authoring issues that the player cannot override. Push stop once and you can resume by pushing play. Push it twice, it goes back to main menu.

If you don't want the disc position to be remembered, press Stop twice before ejecting the disc or turning off the player, or press Stop if the "resuming" message appears while the disc is loading.

If you require any further information, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you,

I just finished watching all 5 seasons and had no issues with Season Play at all, and it would always resume at the exact minute and second I left off.

What was your Blu-ray player, was it a Samsung model?

Just to chime in, no problems here with my Panasonic or Magnavox players. Sounds like it might be a Samsung issue? Too bad they couldn't resolve it.

Thanks wongnog for your input, I got the same response from Samsung. I guess it's the player, and it's too bad because it's a very good one.

well here it's working with PS3 and also with Panasonic BD30,
on both machines I can stop anytime, and I can go back exactly to same position...

it is not working on episode to episode basis.....
