Default Who do you think are more harmful to HT kids or Adults?

Who do you think are more harmful to HT set ups kids or adults? I would say adults I see more adults just shove things in or push buttons and not care at all. Also for kids I mean like 5+ not younger. But If I tell the kids not to do this or show them how to do something it sticks with them and they are cleaner since I have them wash hands before they touch anything.

My wife has no ideal how operate my set up, yet my 8 yr old son can put on a movie and turn on the receiver and change the channel input...kids nowadays know way more about electronic stuff than adults...

So I would have to say Adults...

Before my things were stolen my four year old wanted to take the movies out and put the new one in.

I mean she really wanted to do it, and if I didn't let her she felt bad and cried, I got her to be careful with them and she did.

I know she don't understand the scratch disc issue like an adult, but she took her time doing it.

I guess if you compare someone who knows better compared to someone who doesn't, it makes it harder to pic one.

My son likes to tag on the LCD screen with pens.
He hits the screen with the Wii sensor bar.
He put two discs in the PS3,and when I turn it on it sounds like a bingo machine.
My system has remnants of:
peanut butter
pancake syrup
bubble gum
mac and cheese
wet cheerios
gummies
lolly pop sticks
etc.

So I'd have to say kids. He's 2yo though.

Yeah I see how it depends on the child. A girl I know when she was 3 she could put a movie in the DVD player and not touch the back side and look at the DVD box and everything. Another 3 year old girl will just run up and touch the TV and can't really look and hold the DVD unless you want it looking worse then when you bought it.

Kids, the adults I know are respectful of my investment. When kids come over they don't give a crap. The older ones are curious (7 yrs) so they touch everything, the younger ones don't even know what's going on. All of them play with/around/on top of the equipment knocking things down and just generally being hard on the equipment, and it's extremely annoying.

They're good kids, but I'm glad they're not mine.

I went with adults on this one. My two best friends when they are in my car or over at my apartment they want to touch everything. Plus I have family members that do the same thing. I am OCD and very OCD when it comes to my home theater gear. For some reason, people just want to touch my stuff. I think they know it gets under my skin. I don't bother other peoples things when I'm at their home or in their car and I expect the same.

Kids, well never had any and I have one niece and one nephew. They never come over so I'm good on that front. I'd rather go to my sis' place so they keep their sticky fingers at home LOL!

My 15 month old knows how to turn on the TV, turn on the receiver and turn on the PS3 and pick out one of his DVD's (usually Elmo) and put it in. He also likes to play with the buttons on the controller which makes him know enough to be dangerous. However, my mom has somehow gotten to settings and other things that I had the hardest time figuring out how to turn off. So, personally I'd have to go with adults, since my 15 month old son can control my HT better than my 53 year old mother.

Generally, I'd say kids though.

Ya eh? Worst part is I'm "married" into the uncle position and I'm still the one who has to tell them to stop playing with/on/around the equipment. Everyone else just lets it slide.

You left out animals. One of my mains has been knocked over twice Once by my dogs rough housing, and once by my cat using it as a launching pad to reach the top of my entertainment unit.

I picked adults. I've had kids in my theater, and after a short talk had no problems. But for some reason I've had "adults" monkey with my TV's picture settings, adjust my sub and set a series recording on my HD DVR(WTF!?).

Kids, they don't know any better. Adults should know better. The difference here is if an adult breaks any part of your HT at least they can pay for it...or else

kids...... not mine though....they're great!

For those using "pushing buttons and changing settings" as a gripe........ that's chicken-feed folks...... Once a kid pushes a pencil through a speaker, or kills a dozen pixels on your LCD by beating it with a wooden spoon........ then you will understand what "Damage" is....
