Avenged Sevenfold Drummer Found Dead - Blu-ray Forum

HUNTINGTON BEACH, California -- Police say James Owen Sullivan, a drummer and backup vocalist for the Southern California band Avenged Sevenfold, has been found dead at his home in Southern California.

Lt. John Domingo says the 28-year-old Sullivan, who went by the stage name The Rev, appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach.

The Orange County coroner's office is investigating the death.

Avenged Sevenfold formed in Huntington Beach in 1999 and won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. According to their MySpace page, the five-man metalcore band was working on their fifth album.

The band released a statement Monday expressing their sadness and calling Sullivan "one of the world's best drummers," and "our best friend and brother."

I'm gutted to be honest

He was a genuinely talented drummer and the band (of whom I was a fan of) won't be the same without him.

So glad I managed to see him play live. He was phenomenal.

I read this news last night. I like A7X and this is devastating news. Not only was he a great drummer, but he was so young. RIP The Rev.

A7X is one of my favorite bands, I own all the albums and love all the music. They have progressed from an underground punk band to a nationally known name.

The Rev was a tremendous drummer who is going to be greatly missed, and A7X will not be the same. I have seen them in concert and even got a chance to talk to them and they are great guys...28 is too young no matter what but for a man so talented it's a tragedy.

I hate Avenged Sevenfold, but 28 is def too young. Who knows what caused it.

They have a lot of talent, although don't really utilize it in their music. I liked some of their stuff though. RIP, too young
