Default corr's humble HT

Well here it is. I wanted to take some more pics before I started a thread but there is not that much more to show anyway! Nothing spectacular about it and no where near the setup that a lot have here but I sure love watchin Blu-rays on it!

Since these pics have been taken, I have moved the L and R surrounds down closer to ear level (below the light switch) and I like it better so far. The components are listed in my signature.

Comments? Suggestions? Criticisms?

Thanks for looking!

Looks good, I like the equipment rack and you have some nice equipment too. Are those speakers on the ceiling? If so, is it possible to seperate them a bit more? I ask only so you could widen the surround soundfield behind you better if they were. But you have a nice living room that also serves as your HT. Nice job.

Great setup corr. Those surrounds on the ceiling are crazy. Hope your bass does not knock them off! Do you have any upgrade plans and if so what?

Thanks forsberg21! Yes, these speakers are surely on the ceiling! I placed them this way on the recommendation of a set-up site (Dolby I believe (?)). I would prefer to have my HT in a more appropriate room accoustically but it's not possible right now (maybe when my daughter moves out! ). There is a partial hallway behind the seating so that is why they are on the ceilling. However, it would not be dificult to spread them apart a little... I should try it...

There is A LOT of upgrades I want to do if I only had the dough. It's been a tough year... can't wait for 2010 to start!

I'd like to have bigger mains and Paradigm surounds. Another receiver would be in the future too... one with more HDMI inputs. I really like the Yamaha but wouldn't be opposed to a Denon or Pioneer. Btw, those speakers have been there for a couple of years now and I do check the mounting for time to time! They are directly above my head!

Thats good to hear. You know in the mean time you can get an HDMI switch from monoprice.com for a resonable price. This would allow you to have multiple inputs into the one or two you have for your receiver. I love my Pioneer receiver. It is a good piece of A/V equipment. Denon and Yammy are good too. Thats the hard thing, deciding and demoing/auditioning them. Paradigms are nice speakers. I have not heard them only seen pictures of others on this forum who have them. They are beautiful, especially the higher end ones.

It has been a tough year, hopefully 2010 shapes up to be a little better. Like to be optimistic! Thats great you have had to check those speakers. I don't think I could get away with some on my ceiling, my sub would bring them down and I do rent!

Very nice set-up, and I love that stand. Also love your door trim and baseboards. I'm in construction, and you have no idea how sick I am of seeing white trim.

Thanks Rob! I have another one of those stands in the office for the computer, another cable receiver and another PS3.

EDIT: I just realized you probably meant the TV stand, not the AV stand. I went through a lot of TV stands before I finally came across this one and I'm very pleased with it. Thanks again.

Looks great. I'd see if you could hide the few wires showing but overall very clean and a very nice setup you have.

Thanks for the input Sean! Can you recommend an online store for wire management. I don't have a very good selection around here.

I got my 25ft hdmi cable that runs from my projector to my receiver from monoprice. That and my banana plugs. They have a lot of decent quality stuff considering the price of comparable cables...they can't be beat.

I paid a hundred bucks for a 25 foot cable locally that I can't use with my PS3.

Thanks Crazy. They sound good up there but I'm always looking for "better". This is my first 7.1 setup so I have nothing to compare it to...
