Default updating firmware Yamaha 465 and 665

Ill be receiving a Yammy RX-V665 to go with my 465 and want to update the firmware, since I see there is a new update.I will have to burn it to a CD and hook up a CD player to each receiver using digital cables before playing it.Sounds like cake, but just wondering if anyone here has done this and if so,are there any problems in my future I should know about?

Thanks for any info,

DanD

I finally got mine updated last night (RX-V1700)! I tried some time ago with a Panny DVD player and it wouldn't work. I also tried with the PS3 but no go either. Finally, I borrowed a friends Technics CD player and after 4 or 5 attempts I got the "Update Sucess!" on the display. So happy!

It's a very simple process but for whatever reason, it needed the disc played a few times.

The update for mine should have been done LONG ago!

From the Bulletin: "Yamaha has found that in some instances when switching between certain digital signals on an RX-V1700 or HTR-6090, the digital signal will mute for an extended period of time or will not return."

For me, the dropouts occured when watching CTV group stations including TSN. The sound would mute when the channel went to commercial or returning to the program. Extremely annoying.

So far, it seems to be fixed but it's too soon to tell 100%

I've had this happen with my 465,at the start of a blu-ray when it switches from the trailers, menu ,Dolby digital, etc.,to the main movie DTS-HD master or Dolby True HD.I have to hit the scene button to another input and back to blu-ray to get audio.Lets hope the update solves this for me.Thanks.

Did you do the firmware update, and did it solve any problems you may have had? I just bought the 665 yesterday. It's still in the box but comes out tonight. I looked up on Yamaha website the firmware update and it looks like a PITA!
