Default Best audio options for PS3 and Onkyo 805

Well, after a lot of reading up on this forum and others, I decided my PS3 was at least as good a BD player as the S300, so I took that one back to CC and will keep my PS3 as my main PD player for the time being.

What I'm wondering is what settings I should set the PS3 up with to make sure I'm getting the most audio out of the system?

I know my 805 receiver will decode up to True HD and DTS MA (I think), so I wanna make sure I get the best I can. I'm running A/V through with an HDMI 1.3 compliant cable.

Thanks!

Put the PS3 on Linear PCM. You won't be able to utilize the DTS MA yet, as the PS3 (or any other player right now) can't output the DTS MA file, so it just puts out the "core" of the file. Still sounds pretty good though. But as long as you have the PS3 set to Linear PCM, you'll be all good. Run a search if you have any other questions . . . there are literally dozens of threads on this topic.

Im still in a rental so I have not set up a full blown home stereo yet.

Would you run the HDMI into the audi rcvr then use an hdmi video out on the rcvr to the tv, or are the audio connections on the ps3 ok.

I know the only drawback with the ps3 is the limited connections.

While Ive got you here, what should I make sure my next rcvr has and can do?

Im pretty good with video, but know jack about audio.

Bstecke, thanks for the info...for some reason I was getting an error page when I tried to search last night, so I was going through each thread page one at a time That got old...

Anyway, I have it on PCM now, and I have all of them selected in audio options, so I should be set!

Thanks a ton!
