Default PGR4 Too Big for DVD

http://www.bizarrecreations.com/foru...802&p=#p255585

It seems that all the bad karma is catching up to Microsoft. Here's a link to PGR4's official forums, and the devs basically admit that they didn't have enough space on a DVD to fit all their textures. Because of it, they won't be including day-night variations on their tracks - only weather variations. I know this sounds trivial right now, but future games are only going to get more and more complex with the textures and whatnot. Looks like Sony wasn't so crazy after all.

Most of the replies are hilarious - saying they should put the textures on a second DVD and have it installed on the harddrive lol. For one thing, the devs already said that having two discs wouldn't be possible because of the extra costs. But the bigger problem is the core systems - you can't make the harddrive a requirement now cause it'll screw everyone who bought a core. So Team Ninja, Rockstar, and now Bizarre Creations have all publicly stated that DVDs are just too small. Even Mistwalker had to put Blue Dragon on 3 discs. Microsoft's lack of foresight is really starting to bite them in the ass.

Yep, that the DVD is too small, and they can't assume a hard drive...now where are those who were complaining that Sony was stupid to put so much hardware into the PS3...hmmm.

enjoy

You won't see different times of day per city because this involves recreating all the textures again (one for day and one for night). Whilst this wasn't a problem for our dev team, it was a problem fitting all this data onto a single DVD.

What do these experts in their field (and of course their own product) know?

Call me naive, but I believe the hysterical ramblings of team-Microsoft fanbois telling people their business and the "whatever we support is perfect" mantra of Microsoft.
