Is Renaissance the black & white rotoscoped thriller starring Daniel Craig?

It is, but Daniel Craig was for the English dub. It's a French film.

Oh... I thought it was actually Daniel Craig acting (obviously rotoscoped to look like animation, but based on a captured performance). Been quite a few years since I saw it, maybe I'm just remembering incorrectly.

Yeah, he was marketed for the film in North America.

It will be the english language version though, featuring Craig's voice.

Well don't all Alliance BDs have French audio, considering they are Canada-exclusive and Canada is partly French-speaking? Surely any French audio track would be the original - I can't imagine a French dub based on the English track was made...

Though I don't know if there would be English subtitles on an Alliance release, so that might make that null and void for me...

The French version of the film was from France, & the North American release was the English language version. Its possible that the disc may fair the original track, but I doubt it. Hopefully it will have both tracks/versions. And yes, all of their French Blu releases have had English subtitles.

They are showing the English version of Renaissance on IFC-HD this month (in HD too). Unfortunately it is cropped, or at least opened up to fill the screen, as IMDB shows the movie as having an OAR of Super35, 2.35:1, and Alliance's Blu's have a habbit of filling the screen as well.

And before anyone asks, unlike many of IFC-HD's other broadcasts it is true HD and not stretched.

Well, this one is an actual Miramax/Disney release; not Miramax/Weinstein so I'd say get it if you like it. There's tons of Disney films that I do not see coming out anytime soon; like Copland and From Dusk Till Dawn.

Amazon.ca is reporting that Renaissance was released today, 3/2/2010, and that it is in stock. But I'm scared. I was very disappointed with the OAR screwup on Pulse and I don't feel like being the guinea pig on this one too. Anyone else feeling lucky? Or at least have any useful information?

I know I will eventually. At the rate HMV has been marking all Alliance discs down to $15, I'll wait a bit.

Back cover from AxelMusic.com show its 2.35:1 proper with DTS-HD MA English 5.1 and Dolby Digital French 5.1. No listing for subtitles.

I know I am bumping an old thread but with Bon Cop, Bad Cop and the subtitles, are the subtitles for English shown on the English parts too or (I hope) do they show for just the French parts?
