Onkyo TX-NR807
onkyo-tx-nr807-thread.jpg I am looking at buying a Onkyo TX-NR807 for $650 is that a good deal? How good is this receiver? Also how true is that power on this receiver? It says 135 watts per channel, how true is that? Any problems with this model? Please give me your thoughts on this deal. I know it will be a step up from my Sony DG720. How is the sound quality? Please read this:
http://hometheatermag.com/receivers/...ver/index.html They gave it a great score and have some test results that would answer your questions. |

The 905 is a no-brainer. That receiver is built like a tank. The 807 is good, but every year since the 05 series Onkyo has dropped power and build quality to cut costs and add features. Amp or no amp I would still take the 905 over the 807 period.

Thank for all advices I will go for TX-NR905, I will don't use external amp for stereo hope this one will be sound nice with B&W 683 or KEF IQ90 ohh by the way which one from this two speakers do you recommend for it , I listened them both but still don't know which one are better choice they sound very similar to me only B&W have stronger bass.
For now I have to strengthen my cabinet shelf for it ![]() Last edited by PeterMac; 01-11-2010 at 12:23 PM. |

I find that Kef speakers tend to be a little brighter sounding and that whatever equipment you choose needs to be a warmer sounding component. Like the Kef paired with a Yamaha 1900 or Marantz 6004 or Harman Kardon, sound great because the warmth of the receiver mellows out the brightness. However the Kefs with a Denon or Pioneer sound really overly bright. I think with B&Ws they start a little more towards the middle, they are still a little forward, but not as bright nearly as Kef speakers. That may give you more flexability in terms of equipment you can use with them. JMO, take it for what you will. If you are dead set on the Onkyo's, then buy it, take it to the dealers and let them hook it up to the speakers for you and see what you like better. You may want to ask first, but my Energy guy told me I could do that. |

yes I listened B&W with Yamaha RX-V1065 and they sound nice but was too much bass for me from them, in other shop I listened KEF IQ90 with Onkyo TX-NR807 they don't have yamaha amplifiers, so I can't compare on same amplifier but KEF''s sound very similar but with smaller bass.
