Default I know this question will seem odd but...

What resolution do we see in? In other words, if a new HDTV displays 1080p resolution, what resolution is real life?? Is that even a measurable thing?

I was going to say there are probably too many variables involved to really calculate. Especially when we see that film really has no resolution until it is scanned digitally. Then it can have a 2K, 4K, 6K, or even an 8K resolution applied to it. Keeping in mind that blu-ray is LESS than a 2K scan.

no expert but i think animals can see an infinite amount of resolution, just dependent of health and ambient factors.....the resolution only becomes defined when you put it on a particular surface area, like say a 50 inch television

I guess what I'm leading to with my initial question is, at what point in tv technology do we reach where images look "real" and no longer like projected images? Does anyone think we'll get there?? Or is it a matter of breaking away from the confines of a 16x9 screen and going towards something like holographic images?

It would have to be in holographic form in my opinion.

It would have to be when a true 3D representation can be projected. A true 360 degree holographic image where, as we move, the scene changes. Until that time, no such luck.

I agree completely, although it will be very odd at first, lol. I'm also sure there are things that wouldn't benefit from such technology
