An hour ago there were 400 copies left, now it's down to 9! I wonder how long it will take Amazon to restock?

Right now the page says Aug 7. But, that's the conservative system in place. I think they will be scrambling to get a new order in ASAP.

hd-dvd copies are still in. as are the #1 selling sd version dvds. and hot fuzz just took over 300 hd-dvd for the number 3 spot today. (i checked this morning and 300 hd-dvd was there at 3 - now its at 4). makes me wonder how many discs they had of each? if they stocked more blu-rays than hd-dvds? and still managed a sell-out? hmm...

My Frys was out. I won't get a chance to run to Walmart until later tonight, and refuse to pay the $30 at Best Buy.

I'm expecting the sales figures from Amazon and others to show a blow out for the BD version of 300 over the HD-DVD version.

The PS3 has been selling big everywhere with the $100 price + 5 free movies + different promotions from retailers. It's still the #2 seller in the video games category on Amazon which should tell you something.

From purely anecdotal evidence, it seems also that the new Sony BDP-S300 is selling well. All of this means that we have a growing BD-player base out there.

That is actually quite impressive considering getting Blu-ray discs from the Amazon.com is usually significantly cheaper for me. Especially since I have the 10% special discount still in effect until the end of the year.

Also, by some accounts, HD DVD was doing better (relative to BD) in Canada than anywhere else in the world.

The PS/3 price story went like this:

Nov 2006: CAD$649
Early 2007: CAD$699 (the dollar slipped a bit and they sneaked the price up)

With the $100 reduction and the dollar surging again the price was cut $150 dollars in most places (e.g. Sony Store, Best Buy, Future Shop ...). So, now it is $549 down from $699. And selling out regularly again.

300 (HD DVD) - CAD$35.99 (20% off SRP)

Amazon.ca are really sticking it to HD DVD owners.

I think Blu will really take this one - no problem.

However, did anyone else notice the PQ quality on the disc was different from the PSN. I felt the PSN trailer I downloaded was way more colorful than the actual movie. (I know the grain is supposed to be there.) I felt the color on the disc was a bit more subdued.

Am I the only one who sees this difference?

I would have loved for those colors to pop like they did on the trailer.

Actually for some reason Amazon stocked more copies of HD-DVD than BD

HD-DVD: 3000 copies
BD: 600 copies

So Amazon did blu-ray wrong.

Also, at the Target I got mine from the special edition DVD was 22.49 and the Blu-ray was only 2.50 more (24.99), the HD-DVD was selling for 29.99.

Awesome, that I got the Blu-ray for only 2.50 more and will all the content on the special edition DVD.

Actually those were the copies remaining today,after the preorders were shipped. I am sure the ordered about the same amount of copies.
