Default Any Updates on Batman: Mask of the Phantasm?

I remember way back when The Dark Knight was just about to enter theaters that there was the rumor that Warner Bros. were considering bringing Batman: Mask of the Phantasm to BD, presumably to cash-in on TDK's insane hype at the time. Obviously WB didn't pursue the thought any further, but I was wondering if any recent developments have occurred since then?

Unfortunately, my gut feeling is telling me that it'll come out around Batman 3's theatical release, but I hope that isn't the case.

Based on how WB is treating the DCAU, I wouldn't expect them to care enough to release it anytime soon or use it for synergy with another Batman film. They recently put out Superman and Justice League in complete collection sets and had no HD support for any of it, even though Justice League season one has already seen a BD release. It wouldn't have been hard for them to take the existing HD masters for Justice League and make those available.

I don't recall hearing a rumor about Mask of the Phantasm as a The Dark Knight tie-in, but they DID do Batman Gotham Knight as a tie-in. I'd say that a new Batman DTV feature as a tie-in for the next live action Batman feature is far more likely. Just don't expect a new Batman DTV feature to be DCAU.

Mask of the Phantasm needs to be remastered - the current DVD has edge enhancement everywhere. If a BD came out using the same master as the DVD, there would be a lot of complaints. Maybe they don't think it's financially viable at this point.

Unhappy No plans for blu-ray release...

Working in the home entertainment industry here in LA, I reached out to a friend at WB and they have no plans to release this film on Blu-ray; they simply don't think there's an audience for it.

If we want it, my contact said someone needs to create a forum, blog, website or Facebook page devoted to the film, and they might consider it...

Batmam: Mask of the Phantasm should come on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack, just like Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker and it on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack because I already got Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack since last christmas in 2017.

Mask of the Phantasm came out summer 2017 via Warner Archive. No BD/DVD combo pack though, just a single BD-50.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm should come on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack because I collected Batman animated movies on Blu-ray/DVD combo pack back at home.
