Roland Emmerich. Only because I like Stargate and the Patriot.

I chose Bay over Emmerich. They both make the same types of films, but Bay's films just seem more polished and even though he can overdo it at times (TF 2, Pearl Harbor), most of his films are fun entertainment (TF, Armageddon) and at least he tries different things (The Island), even if stuff is still blowing up. Although I think he shake the camera a bit much at times, his movies are just more epic in feel.

Michael Bay easily. He has never made a bad movie. His worst one is the Island and I still think that is quite enjoyable.

Both are about the same, but Bay's movies are a bit more polished.

It is hard to tell them apart (okay, who directed "Armageddon" and who directed ID4? ), but it's easy once you know their licks:

Bay is the ex-trailer director who thinks he's black and likes comedy-relief, and Emmerich believes every single eco-disaster theory he ever hears in the news....There now, isn't that simple?

Bay!!
I have enjoyed most of his flicks; the bad boys flicks are huge guility pleasures of mine.

Emmerich has only done 2 movies I like (Patriot / Independence Day) and the rest range from average to bad.
