Default SD on BD for space?

Not to ever warrant the repeat of EP VHS tapes (remember those budget tapes at Suncoast stores that were extended play and you could just tell by the price and how light it was?!?), but I have an idea...

Obviously, old films have better potential for PQ increases on Blu than their old tv show (shot on video) counterparts. Still, playing devil's advocate, would anyone buy "TV on DVD" style SD content on Bluray if the technology was used for storage and less discs? A Prime example would be Saturday Night Live. I really don't know how much better the 70's video could be improved. So- bearing that in mind, rather than roughly 6-8 DVD discs per current box set of the first five seasons, do you guys feel there is a market for say one slim box set that contained all five seasons on Bluray?

I'll take it further... in the future, when holographic discs can carry almost (hell- let's say ALL) the entire library of congress on it, I wonder if there will be something like a double disc box set of "SNL: The first 40 years"... one disc for the uncut broadcasts, and one disc for all the dress rehearsals.

I wonder if at some point we will reach a ceiling where labels of SD and BD become antiquated in favor of terms like "BPQ" which will mean "Best Possible Quality." Even if they used Handbrake at a setting of 100% constant quality to make a MKV file LARGER than the original source, I just wonder if there is a market for "entire series" of [insert show title here] on one disc.
