United Kingdom DAY OF THE DEAD 29/03/10 new extras

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

arrow have done a top job with ths release.

i wasnt going to bother with this as i have the us anchor bay blu ray release which has a stunning transfer and is a fantastic release.

however after seeing the coves and reading the extras i will sell the one i have now and pick this new one up in march.

day 1 purchase for me.

the new extars for this release are -

Joe of the Dead: Acting in a George Romero Classic:
A 50 minute long sit down chat with the actor Joe Pilato. A biography channel style piece, this takes in the performer's career to date, including his unforgettable performance as Captain Rhodes in Day Of The Dead.

Travelogue of the Dead: On the Rhodes Again:
17 minute feature on Joe’s trip to Dublin, Edinburgh and Glasgow in October 2009, complete with some fans giving their own thoughts on meeting Captain Rhodes

check out the choice of 4 covers in the attached image

me too day 1
arrow dawn of the dead Blu-ray package was great
also in the day of dead package

" there will be a new collector’s booklet featuring – as with the “Dawn” booklet – fresh interviews with many of the “Day” cast and crew (including Romero)."

Have you seen Australian Covers? If you hate UK Ratings, you might pass out after seeing the Aussie ones.

I would hope that, in this case, if they are going to the trouble of releasing four different covers, that they would be reversible.

covers will be reversible. most likely just like their dawn of the dead release
with 2 covers on either side and with a slip case with clear view front to display one of four covers and and normal back cover.

Hopefully this wont have the green tint the Arrow release of Dawn of the Dead had.

What are the specs on this release anyways?

Cool thanks. I would use that Japanese cover, I always liked big red Japanese lettering on posters.

I like the old UK 'blue faces' poster art. It's effective.

The art I liked best was the UK standee with Rhodes holding the Magnum superimposed on top of the blue faces.

Amoktime have a great 7.5" action figure of Bub and are doing a 12" later in the year. The company also do an action figure of Dr. Tongue and have done several Night Of The Living Dead figures and Return Of The Living Dead fans should take a look at their forthcoming Tarman action figure

I think the Arrow transfer is slightly better than the AB disc, because a little less NR has been applied, restoring some vital texture, and I actually prefer the colours. Both derive from the same master, which has has a great deal of NR baked into it - if you look closely, you can see a trailing outline behind all motion, resulting in a sluggish and smeary look. With that said, it does look a hell of a lot better than the AB UE dvd (which also comes from the same master), and is definitely worth the upgrade imo.

The Arrow set has an extensive set of extras (even more than the ABUE 4 disc set), and is easily the better option of the two blu-rays, imo.

The Arrow release of Dawn is brilliant. Clever packaging, great picture quality (with little to no DNR - unlike the Anchor Bay release) and a vast array of extras.

Sadly the master provided to Arrow by AB is heavily noise reduced. AB just applied further processing to eliminate the print damage.

I do agree that the Arrow transfer is better, and it's an overall great package.
