Default Moon vs Sunshine

Please only vote if you have seen both.

The film, not the Blu-ray

Which one was better, and why?

I say Moon. I liked the story better and I thought the ending of Sunshine took the twist way too far.

Sams performance was fantastic.

I loved the sound design and use of silence in both films though.

There's a separate forum for movie discussion.

I enjoy both, difficult choice but I went with Sunshine for sentimental reasons that I won't explain here Squid

It is a difficult vote for me, as well. I really liked both films. I'll have to mull it over and vote a bit later...

I like them both and we had a double feature of both last week.
Sunshine had a great cast, however Rockwell pretty much had to carry Moon by himself, so I gave him the edge.

I haven't seen Moon and Sunshine is one of my favorite blu's I have in my collection. I thought the story line was great and the soundtrack in my opinion is top notch. I do plan on getting Moon was the price goes down a bit.

the "twist" of moon seemed really cheesy to me, i kept expecting that it was just all in his head, however the burnt guy in sunshine was pretty ridiculous also, overall i think sunshine was more enjoyable though. i guess sam rockwell did a great job but its pretty difficult to watch a movie with basically only one actor

As Duncan says in his panel (special feature) budget of $5 million for his film, a budget of $50 million for "Sunshine". And in my opinion, I enjoyed "Moon" much, much more.

As much as I enjoyed "Sunshine" visually and audio-wise, I just didn't enjoy the horror transition. It didn't work for me.

As for "Moon"...I felt the film worked! I was impressed!

That was my issue too. I LOVED it until it made that turn.

I wish I could come up with something more original Squid, but this was exactly my problem with Sunshine...it had me right until that moment...and then for some reason I just stopped caring about what I was seeing on screen .

On the other hand, Moon had me from beginning to end. Sam's performance was excellent. It just goes to show how quality production can trump the need for a large budget.

Tough choice. I wasn't blown away by either, though that could be related to them being severely overhyped to me. I saw each of them twice, and liked each less on the second viewing.

I'll go with Moon for two reasons: 1) Sam Rockwell's performance, 2) the fact that it was made for such little money.

Loved both and Sunshine is in my collection. Voted for Sunshine because it's a film that I can enjoy watching over and over and the soundtrack is amazing.

John Murphy himself sent me a copy of the soundtrack he submitted to the record company. He's the absolute nicest guy.

What's your point? My avatar is a joke, it means nothing about what I think about Avatar.

But enjoy pretending you understand Sunshine and Moon, and that they're deep, intellectual movies, while also hating anything that you think you should hate, for being too simple and mainstream.

I agree about what you said, I think I'll have to vote for Moon too...

Sunshine is still a good movie, had a lot of potential.
