Default Single biggest pet peeve when going to the movies...

Ok, we all have them. Whether it be the crying baby, the douche on his cell phone, or the girlfriend who can't shut up. What is your single biggest pet peeve when going to the movies?

Without a doubt, mine is idiots who cannot seem to make it to the theater on time. They show up like 10 minutes into the movie and start trolling the aisles, trying to find empty seats together so they can sit side by side. Sometimes, when it's a crowded theater, they go and get the usher to come in there with their flashlights to help them find seats. It's very annoying and distracting to those of us who actually managed to get there on time! I really wish movie theaters would be like Broadway plays. Once the play starts and those doors shut, that's it! You cannot get in until intermission. Too bad so sad. I say they do the same thing with movies. Once the lights go dark and the previews start, they need to shut the damn doors and have an usher guard them! No getting in and if you're late, tough! You'll have to wait for the next showing!

Cell phones - people still do not get it. I can not go to a movie without someone having a converstation at normal volume while the movie is going on.

People sometimes can run into to traffic or something else BEYOND their control can make them late. Do you know it's the same people always late? Have you ever been late for anything? Do you think they are purposely late? IMO you need to lighten up. Life happens, it's just a movie.

Talking, in all it's permutations. Cell phone conversations, discussing where to eat after the movie, what just happened, what's going to happen...

Did I ask for your opinion on MY pet peeve "Niche?" No, I asked to post YOUR movie going pet peeve. Perhaps you should try a little reading comprension next time.

And for the record, I don't give a rat's ass about people's excuses for being late to the movies. It doesn't lessen the annoyance factor one bit.

Plus, couldn't they just sit down outside the theater and wait for the next show? But it's easier to inconvience others than to inconvience themselves. Me Generation at it's finest.

Now that I got that off my chest.

Although I don't find it a pet peeve when people arrive late, I do concur that they should treat the presentation as they do live theatrical productions. However, being an actor myself, I can attest to the fact that the reason they close the doors for good once a live theatre presentation begins has nothing to do with saving the audience any grief. It is strictly to keep the performers from being distracted. Everytime someone even leaves the theatre to go to the washroom and that door opens, I'm guaranteed to have my attention drawn to it. Somebody coming in and fumbling down the aisles looking for their seat would certainly be enough to throw me out of my performance and possibly even make me lose my place in the script.

Now, as for MY PET PEEVE? Cell phones can be annoying, but they aren't the worst thing. People talking? Well, that depends on how much talking they are doing. A few quick whispers here and there I can deal with. My biggest pet peeve is the attitude that gets dished out to me after I politely request that said individuals who are being excessive with their phones and talking refrain from disrupting my film experience. I've had people (all ages, 14 - 55) either start talking sh!t to me or magnifying their annoyance level after a very civilized request to cease. I couldn't believe that I had to get a theatre manager to escort a grown man and his family (wife + 2 teenagers) out of the theatre because he kept calling me extremely inappropriate names. THE TEENAGERS EVEN APOLOGIZED TO ME AS THEY PASSED BY!!!

For me, 9 times out of 10, a simple and polite request loud enough for most of the theatre to hear will do the trick in getting everyone to behave. That's why my pet peeve doesn't include everything listed previously.

The Cell phone: People should be hung for this and I'll tell you why. They know they are going to the movies and they still have their phones on. They understand that movie even tells you to silence your phones and they still go off. The worst is when someone tries to have a conversation. Hey ******* I just paid $10 and been waiting to see this movie for 2 years.

Really this people need to be taught a lesson. I understand sometimes you forget to silence your phone, I don't know why, but I do. Those phones that keep ring and the people with them need a firing squad. People don't have any RESPECT anymore. People need to be made examples of.

Maybe they can invite me to their homes for a entertaining event and I'll make sure I'm just as ignorant as they were in the movie theater.

LEAVE THE CELL PHONES IN THE CAR IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT THEN 90 MINUTES OF YOUR TIME IS THAT IMPORTANT, THEN STAY OUT OF THE THEATER. ALL WE ARE ASKING FOR IS 90 MINUTES OUT OF A YEAR.

I GUESS THIS IS WHY WE HAVE HOME THEATERS AT HOME...

People who wait for the quietest scenes to open their f***ing Skittles, Twizzlers or whatever crap they are shoving down their throats.

Can you tell I really hate that.

There is no need to be late, that's just bad time management. I can guarantee if I offered you a $1,000,000 and told you be there before 8:00 pm to pick it up you would not be late. Tardiness is laziness!
