Default Tora! Tora! Tora!

The real film about Pearl Harbor. As Shakespeare would say, the other film "is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing."

I really love this film and it's far above the silly exercise that Michael Bay pulled. He had a chance to actually make a great war film and really blew it.

Anyone else love this film?

Love this movie! But to this day I haven't seen Pearl Harbor and have no intentions to waste my time so I can't compare.

I really love Jerry Goldsmith's score to this too!

I saw it first run at the theater ('69 or '70), and it is still one of my favorite war films. You are correct - the "other" Pearl Harbor, despite its massive budget, is a sorry pretender to TTT.

Same here. It's aces.

And I hope that they don't try to reboot 'Midway' either.

Well not to be funny first off! I hate William Shakespeare he was cat hatter so I hate this person! I hope all cats pee on his headstone! Thought I just clear that issue up first!

Now lets get down to Tora, Tora, Tora fantastic 10 times better then load of loud in your face Michael U.S. Military propaganda Bay who rubs it in our faces all the time!

And its not love! Its like or dislike. I love me pet cat or William Shakespeare hates cats there is difference between love hate like and dislike.

I like Tora, Tora, Tora haven’t seen it in years, TV pan and scanned sigh. So seeing it on Bluray would like be watching 70mm!

Pearl Harbour is 90% Michel Bay soap that boars me to tears.

....
William Shakespeare made hats for cats? Was he responsible for "The Cat in The Hat"; if so, that would be a reason to dislike him.

Tora! Tora! Tora! is a great film, and when it comes to being released on blu, I hope it is treated better than "Patton" and "The Longest Day".

Well I only learned about this fact last year and was very angry! Even one of your former U.S. Presidents was cat hater. sigh

Not everyone is going to like the same things as you, chill out. It's a lame reason to dislike someone. I don't like cats, they creep me out, so I guess you don't like me either.

Back on subject, Tora! Tora! Tora! is an excellent movie! I hope they release it on blu-ray soon!

As I was saying in some other thread (one concerning the "other" Pearl Harbor movie...), I'll need to rewatch "Tora! Tora! Tora!" and judge it as an adult. Watching it as a kid, the first two hours bored me, up to the final battle scene (which was cool!).

It was a really good film, although it has its own faults with history (but its not a documentary) as well but it's still a better representation than Pearl Harbor by miles.

While I have Tora! Tora! Tora! on DVD, please tell me what makes this film real? Not advocating any other film, but exactly how does this film achieve 'reality'.

It takes a serious look at Pearl Harbor instead of being a Summer popcorn romance.

One of the ways it achieves reality is through the use of REAL planes, almost an alien concept these days.
