Default TV Help!!!!

Hello All,

I hope this is the right place for this. I have Dish Network TV service with HD channels. My sister will be getting my desktop computer once I get my new laptop. She has a 21.5" 2159m Hewlett-Packard HD Monitor and she wants to use it as a TV. Will this work, Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q TV Tuner Stick/Personal Video Recorder with Clear QAM, on the desktop computer? She would like to get all channels like Disney, ABC Family, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, Spike, etc....

The specs for the desktop computer are:
1. Motherboard---ASUS P4P800-E DELUXE 478 Intel 865PE ATX Intel
2. Processor---Intel Pentium 4 2.26 Northwood 2.26GHz 512KB L2 Cache Socket 478 56W Single-Core Processor
3. RAM---1GB RAM
4. Operating System---Windows XP Service Pack 3
5. Video Card---Apollo MX4408X 64MB GeForce4 MX440-8X 64MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

I don't know if this will be any help for you but this is a quote from the Hauppauge website:

"ATSC digital TV is NOT digital cable TV or digital satellite TV. The WinTV-HVR-950Q cannot receive digital satellite TV directly. You can bring TV from your satellite box through the WinTV-HVR-950Q's A/V cable."

So in answer to your question, one would still have to have cable or a satellite service and tuner to pickup Disney, etc. via this device.

What can I use to get all TV channels on the monitor/computer? The monitor does NOT have a coaxial input, all it has is HDMI, DVI, and VGA. So I would need something like a TV Tuner, right? The Dish Network installer ran a coaxial cable through her closet and connects to her old NON HDMI TV. The coaxial cable, I'm guessing, runs from the satellite dish to the TV. She would like to have HDTV channels to watch but if it isn't possible regular channels will be fine.
