Default Problems Playing Lionsgate BDs

My friend recently got Gamer and Saw VI on Blu-Ray. When he puts the discs in, it goes to the loading icon for a very long time.

It never finishes loading properly and the trailers start playing in a tiny box in the center of the screen. The menu never does load and he can't watch the movies.

Is it because they're both Maple/Lionsgate releases, or is it the player? It's a Toshiba BD X2000 for what it's worth.

Has he recently updated his firmware?

From your description, it sounds like his player is having trouble with the latest BD-Java code Lionsgate is using on their new discs. I would see if there is a firmware update available for the player that might fix the issue.

Well he said he tried to do that, but I don't really believe he knows what he's talking about. Where should I tell him to go to do that?

Looking at reviews for the product, it seems he would have to download firmware updates from Toshiba's website and burn them to a CD so they could be installed in the BDX2000 player. However, I can't seem to find any actual firmware updates currently available - it seems there just aren't any yet (unless I'm missing something). Your friend may have to wait until Toshiba releases a new firmware to fix this problem.

It's sounding like the Crank 2 (another Lionsgate release) problem. Does your friend's player have memory?

Same problem on Marantz BD7004 players. Working on resolution.

UPDATE: Yep, SD memory did the trick. Ugh...

I have an updated LG BD390, and I have the same problem. It already has 1GB of hard drive space already. Very frustrating.

I had issues with the last two saw films needing the latest firmware from Samsung. it would load the menu background and play music but no menu. Drove me crazy for a few mins until I realized I was a firmware release behind. SD cards have also caused issues with my player with Angels & Demons trying to load for some odd reason. had to format the card and then it worked.

I just played Stargate last night on my BH200 and it took about 30 seconds to load the menu after the trailers, but other than that it worked fine.

Funny! Lionsgate BDs are the only kind of BDs I've bought that I've NEVER had problems with....not even on my old Samsung BD-P1600 surprisingly. And I own lots of them.

Either a firmware update is required, or the player needs to be connected to the internet (if it's capable). Sounds like the software is getting confused by the fact that it can't get its BD-Live interface communicating with the Lionsgate servers.

I also have a Phillips and the only title that give me trouble was Crank 2. But an SD card solved the problem so if u havent already tried that, I suggest u do.

Evry LG title Ive bought Crank 2 have played flawlessly.

OMG im haveing the same exact problem with my new Expendables bluray. it goes to the loading icon and then a tiny box happens and plays trailers. WTF? movie never loads or plays. so im glad at least its not just me, seems to be a problem with the lionsgate BD's. i als have a phillips BD player, model # philips bdp5005/f7 a and ive been trying to figure out how to upgrade the firmware but it seems to be a futile pursuit. i will also try to get an SD card since it seems thats what people are doing to solve this problem. are you guys sure an SD card will make the movie play normally?

Default Lionsgate/Expendables bluray player problems... Solution?

I have a Sony BDP-S300. I have downloaded the most current firmware available on the Sony Website (version 5.5), however, the player is having difficulty playing the Expendables Bluray.

I think I have been caught in between necessary firmware updates, and might not be able to fix the problem until sony uploads a new firmware version.

I was wondering does anybody have any ideas on how I can fix this problem?

Thanks,

Angry Problem with Expendables BD.

My Toshiba BDX 2000 does not play The Expendables Blu-ray!! Must need a firmware update. I don't know why movie companies add all this garbage like Metamenu System, BD Touch, and etc. to the movie. Do they actually think that fans of the Expendables want to deal with this techno crap?

I already returned one copy of The Expendables for another one because I thought the BD was defective. Same problem with the new BD. I got to find a way to get the update.

It is so STUPID that we have to update our players JUST TO PLAY THE MOVIE!!!

Who cares about Menamenu and BD Touch? Seriously, & BD Live too! Who chats with their friends during a movie? Do they also text or talk while they are in the movie theater?

This Expendables BD has made me disgusted with BD and I'm starting to hate Expendables.
