I caught a few episodes. It was cool to see what those inventors come up with.

People with new businesses or products go infront of 5 or so potential investors (sharks) asking for money in exchange for a percentage of their business.

Some of the businesses are off the wall, while others are quite good and even fairly successful already. They just need more money to expand.

The sharks sometimes deal alone or they team up splitting the investment. There is usually some negotiating and plenty of greedy business owners, like wanting $500k for 15% of a business that hasn't turned a profit.

It is average entertainment. Seeing if they succeed down the line is the most interesting part.

Yeah I wish they did a follow up of everyone that's been on the show. Maybe a season end update. Especially the businesses that are successful when not getting money from the sharks!

saw it this year for the first time (don't know if it has been playing for some time), I like Dragon's den better http://www.cbc.ca/dragonsden/. it is the same concept, five rich people deciding for themselves if yes/no they will invest in the proposition. So I don't know why I like DD better. It could be the editing, or the financiers but two of them are on both shows (Robert Herjavec and Kevin O'Leary) but then again they are the most interesting ones to watch.

Yeah, I have seen both shows. Shark Tank was pretty interesting, if a little staged. By the end of the season it got very predictable which investors would go after what ideas and products. Barbara Corcoran, as the token female, seemed mostly there to throw a bone once in a while to the female human interest cases instead of making tough investment decisions. But I still kept watching for some reason.

I was spending the weekend in Vegas and I was flipping through the channels in the hotel room when I came across the show Shark Tank. I thought it was interesting but then that was the only episode I ever saw.
