Default Samsung PN50B550

Courtasy of the IRS tax refund and after some tuff choices, I went with the above mentioned set which was the last one in stock at my local hhgregg. Since I had to buy the wife a new washer/dryer as well I wheeled and dealed with the salesman to toss in a bluray player for free since I was about to drop some mad money in his store. He tossed in the samsung BD player w/ BD-Live/Netflix/Blockbuster/Pandora/YouTube features for free and also a high end HDMI cord for $40 bucks to get me to swip my credit card. It comes to my home on Valentines day.

My question to the community is simple...the sales dude said 100hrs of viewing should be fine for seeing no burn in? I've read on these boards most suggest 200hrs. Now since it's Valentine's day I wanted to screen the blu version of Costner's Robin Hood. Should I be safe or should I hold off on any 2:35 widescreen films vs 1:85 which fills up the screen and what about HD programming. I have Directv HD?

and does anyone have the link for the calibration settings to help me out?

thanks in advance for all who respond...........

I have this set and I did roughly around 80-90 hours of break in and then thought to myself, I am in no way enjoying this new plasma I got. So then I just started watching whatever I wanted. I don't watch television so the scrolling news feeds and logos aren't a problem. I am thinking that I will always have image retention, but really it is not a problem. Just run the scrolling after you are done watching your 2:35 films.

There is no harm in doing a little break in period but some have said that they had no problem watching 2:35 movies from the get go.

Here is a thread where about half way down there are questions regarding break in on your very model: https://forum.blu-ray.com/plasma-tvs...ng-50b550.html
