Default Rat Race and Hocus Pocus

Rat Race has to be one my all-time favorite comedy. A really talented cast, non-stop laughs, outrageous scenarios. It's just an incredibly fun ride. Has anyone heard anything about a Blu release? Or has it maybe been released elsewhere on Blu?

Also, Hocus Pocus. A childhood favorite.

Hocus Pocus would be a nice addition to my growing blu-ray collection if they would come out with this. As a kid I use to watch this all the time, it didn't matter if it was Halloween or not I didn't care I loved the movie that much. Now as a grown adult, I still love this movie even though I know that it's not great I just hope when the day comes and they do release that they put plenty of extras on it such as deleted scenes, and a making featurette with interviews with the cast, along with trailers.

Definitely Rat Race. I picked up It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World on BD last month & it reminded of Rat Race. Funny stuff!

I would totally pick up both of these. It took forever to get Hocus Pocus on DVD, so I'm guessing it will be forever for the BD as well.

I think there was a rumored version of Hocus Pocus that was supposed to come out last year. Then earlier this year, didn't this site report it may be coming out??

I am not sure why it has not come out yet. Disney has pumped out other movies on blu faster then you can say "crap." LOL.

I wonder if they are waiting for an anniversary edition or if there is a rights issue? If they release it, I wonder if it will lack commentary. It would be great if they could get the 3 main women together to do commentary.

Well since Halloween is approaching it definitely won't be this year which is sad because the regular DVD is not even anamorphic. I would buy it day one.

Disney has been quite stingy so far with their catalog live action releases, I would imagine the wait for this one will be a very long one indeed.

It should, it's pretty much a remake.

I want Hocus Pocus badly! One of my favorite Halloween movies sinceyears!

One thing funny to it, talking about Rat Race as a "remake" of Mad, Mad, mad World... I got Ernest Scared Stupid last week, and re-watched it again and... god, that movie was made in 1991, and Hocus Pocus in 1993, and you might be surprised at how similar the two movies are:

Ernest Scared Stupid (1991)...................Hocus Pocus (1993)

Intro set in the past...............................Same kind of intro
Malediction is made by Troll.....................Same with witches
Even warned, Ernest awake the evil..........Max do the same!
Weird Abigail helps the gang....................The weird cat helps the gang too
Old Book with recipe................................Old Grimoire with recipe
The evil is dispatched...............................Same
Witches changes in wooden statues...........Children was changed in wooden statues
Abigail's family wake up from the curse......The curse leaves Thackery Binx (Cat)
Abigail gets her family again......................Thackery joins her lil sister!

And I'm sure I could add more to that list!

Anyway, the Ernest movie is "good", but Hocus Pocus is better!

In Hocus Pocus, when did the children change into wooden statues??? I remember they had their life sucked out of them, but don't recall them turning into wooden statues??? Also, I think Thackery is a boy, not a girl.

I'll be renting Hocus Pocus because there is no Blu Ray for it yet

It's a great childhood Halloween movie.

This is very typical of Disney, North America....All other regions 2 & 4 get the anamorphic 1.78 widescreens. We either get the non anamorphic version or fool screen (1.33) from Disney.
other titles that Disney, North America, refuses to release in anamorphic WS in region 1

1.Wild Hearts Can't be broken...1.85:1
2.The Journey of Natty Gann.....2.35:1
3.Mighty Joe Young
4.Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

R2 gets the full glory of these movies....

Anyways, yes, I would but the bluray if it came out of Hocus Pocus

LOL. I've seen that before, but couldn't say you had mixed them up because I can't remember anything from the Ernest movies, and I use to love them so much. Guess I should pick them up for a few good laughs.
