Default Cabin Fever 2: Spring Fever

Ok, I just rented this at Redbox. I just finished this and WOW! This one was a lot better than the first. The main characters are these two kids who are going to prom and the cop, Winston, from the first film. There's been an issue that was addressed in the Wish List thread about the Ti West being locked out by the producers. It shows in the final fifteen minutes of the film. You can tell that the film obviously ended at the hour mark because
[Show spoiler]Winston drives off with the girl who is infected and it fades out.
Then it cuts to this shoddy looking video of
[Show spoiler]a strip club and this strip club looks like a basement. It's probably the worst looking strip club that I have ever seen.
It does not flow naturally with the rest of the film and you can tell it doesn't. Either than that, it was good. I'd give it a 7/10.

I like a lot of bad cheesy movie, that being said I hated Cabin Fever 2. I did manage to finish it but it got worse every minute it went on. It started out good, then it was decent, the last half it was barely ok, then it was just absolutely awful. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they have nothing better to do such as I.

I guess I'm trying to say, rent it first so you don't regret paying more than $3 to watch it.

When it goes to the
[Show spoiler]strip club, you can tell that it doesn't fit with the film
. That whole last part doesn't fit with the film.

I didn't like it as much as the first one. It had some decent parts and sick humor, but overall it had a different, lower-quality feel to it. The ending did seem weird, too, like Orlando says.

I just returned the film to Redbox. Well, if you pay attention to the audio at the end, it sounds really awful. I'd like to see the film as Ti West imagined, because there was about an hour of footage that was done by Ti West because it was:

60 min - Ti West directed footage.
10 min - Animated segments at the beginning and end.
10 min - Strip Club footage shot by producers.
05 min - End credits.

That's the whole film in a nutshell. The animated segments weren't really needed either if you ask me. But, I'd take take the two high school students trying to get laid over Michael Cera and Jonah Hill anyday since I've watched it.

Watched this a few nights ago, and while I didn't have me laughing like the first film (the scenes in the school feel like an unfunny episode of "Strangers with Candy"), there is something worth watching if you ignore the complete mishandling of the last half.

The film doesn't really seem to have an ending, and I don't know why. What about the ending Ti West shot made the producers think spiraling off into a couple of scenes involving a minor character that no one cared about seem like an improvement over the original cut of the film. I can see myself buying this if there is one day a Director's Cut but that's about it.

Having seen Ti West's House of the Devil I wonder how close his ending to this film was to that film's. That being the case, I'd rather the film end on an eerie note that leaves much to the imagination like House of the Devil than spiraling off into a side story about a stripper spreading the disease to her customers.

Well, I am not a person who bashes a film or goes on what reviews state about a film. If I watch it, and I enjoy it, I enjoy the movie. I liked Cabin Fever 2. It was a good horror movie. There's only been a handful of times where I've watched a movie and flat out loathed the film's existence. And the main one is Boogeyman. A half hour of nothing happen, no thank you.

Finally watched this. The 20 minutes of animation was a cheap way to cut the budget. But I did enjoy the little 60 minutes that was the actual film. I thought this was on blu? I probably imagined seeing it somewhere. I wish it was though. It'd be a nice little purchase if it was under $10

It didn't get a U.S. release. I know there's a German release of the film, most likely Region B locked.

The fact that Lionsgate botched the picture--as it's stretched unnaturally--makes is almost unwatchable. LG basically put out a defective product, and then just said, "oh well".

This is taken from the review of CF2 over at DVD Talk:

The 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen image on this DVD is problematic on several standard technical levels, but the flaw that trumps all of the other ones, the genuine dealbreaker, is that the picture appears to be vertically stretched. Watching the first few minutes of material set at the high school, it was impossible to shake the feeling that people's faces were too tall, and after a few minutes, I popped the disc in my computer and used the controls on my DVD playback program to smash it down. Since Cabin Fever 2 is making a direct-to-DVD premiere, I obviously have no point of comparison, but the altered dimensions viewed via computer looked distinctly more "right" than the unaltered aspect. It seems as if the film is actually meant to be presented in a 2.40:1 ratio (like the original Cabin Fever), but Lionsgate encoded it at around 2.20:1 instead.

Obviously, this is a huge issue (worthy of a replacement program, really), but corrected discs sound like wishful thinking (seeing as Lionsgate's waited so long to dump the film, I can't imagine they'd care enough to rectify this mistake). Anyway, beyond that, the image is extremely soft and filled with artifacts, as if this were a master analog version of the film rather than a digital transfer. When all is said and done, the image would probably rate around two stars if it didn't appear stretched, but the issue makes it distractingly unwatchable (I had to watch the rest of the movie on the computer, using the quick fix).

I didn't look that bad really. The real problem was with the tacked on ending at the strip club. It looked like it was shot on video.

I loved House of the Devil, so at some point I'd like to check this out, even with all the issues. Looking forward to the Innkeepers.... and I'm really not that big of a horror fan.
