Surprised to see Buffalo, NY on there...granted I've never lived there but visited and it seemed like a great place

How is philly not higher on the list??

I remember living in Shaker Hights, Ohio and that was no fun. I am sure Canton is worse.

if there is a nice part of canton, i live there. but yea, no jobs AT ALL. and there are frequently violent crimes. i mean, it wasn't that long ago my brother was robbed at gunpoint at his job, tied up, and had his car stolen

Thats why I moved out of the city to Plain Township it's nice and quite out here.

I spent a lot of time in a suburb of Buffalo (Orchard Park) back in the 90s, and while it was nice, I'm not surprised it's on the list. It seems to have suffered the same fate of other industrial-based cities, due to the industry collapsing (like Philly) and not much around to immediately replace it.

The tons of snowfall from Lake Erie probably don't make things any happier either. Although to clear up a popular misconception, Buffalo isn't the snowfall capital of NY... that title belongs to Syracuse, as you can see here:
