Default Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead Blu-ray

Is anyone else buying this?? I usually avoid Troma films like the black plague, but a friend of mine loves this movie and says I have to see it. Is it worth a blind buy?

Im hoping Best Buy will carry it and I can price match Family Videos price to it.

I love this movie. If you enjoy raunchy satire like South Park then you should like it. The review posted today looks good, hopefully I can pick it up in the near future.

To me, the main issue with Troma releasing movies onto blu-ray is whether or not they will be releasing true 1080p film transfers, as opposed to Lloyd's usual BS of "digitally remastered, director's cut" of a cut VHS tranfer slopped onto dvd, and now possibly blu-ray.

Going by bluray.com's review of the blu-ray disc, the image is true 1080p and looks fairly sharp, given it's low-budget nature. So far, this is a good sign of future Troma releases, but we'll just have to keep an eye out on them to see if they are consistent...

I was hoping they'd stick with the green case as well, but the screener copy I received was housed in a standard blue case.

i didn't last more than 15 minutes watching this one. Didn't find the humor clever at all. Seem to remember the bulk of it based off of common stereotypes - drunk Indians, Muslims dropping and praying in the middle of doing everyday tasks, etc. I'd definitely rent first.

It's in a regular blue case, no slipcover.

Check out the Parents Guide on imdb for this, it's very detailed about the gore in the Violence section

Just saw this (for the first time) and I really enjoyed it! Loved the humor, loved the gore and loved the girls.

As for the Blu-ray I was pleasantly surprised. I haven't seen the DVD so I can't compare, but I've seen my share of Troma DVD's, and this Blu-ray blew them all away!

If you're not familiar with Troma's work I would suggest renting this. If you love Troma's childish humor, bad acting and cheesy SFX I think you will enjoy this Blu-ray!!

Just got this, but I noticed the case is different then the rest of my blu-ray cases. The case seems wider, and the corners of the case are not round like my other blu-ray cases. Anyone elses case like this?

Attached is a picture comparing this case to another case.

I got my copy shortly after it was released and the case is exactly the same as yours.

At first, I thought I would enjoy this but I ended up turning it off within 5 minutes. I should've known better that this was gonna be one of the worst movies known to mankind. Ok I lied, I kind of skimmed through scenes until I got to the end. This was the type of film thats so screwed up it sticks to your mind for a long time; just like the Basketcase movies. They look like someone's nightmare. End of rant.

I saw this movie at the theater and thought its biggest fault was a poor flow. The humor wasn't funny and the movie didn't pick up any steam until the final quarter. The build up was too long, boring, and choppy to get to the ending which was awesome.

I don't think I would watch this at home.

Looks like the cases usually used in the UK. They are a bit thicker than the US ones.

Ok, thanks for the help. Just thought it was a little strange that Troma would be using these cases, as I have never seen these type of cases before.
