Default Blu-ray format question - 1080i monitor?

In the past week I was given a PS3 by a relative. At the moment there are hardly any games out that are worth buying so I was interested in Blue-ray's. I have a 1080i HDTV (Widescreen) currently. When I went to by '300' on Blue-ray I noticed that it is displayed on a 1080p format. My main question here is, will a 1080p formated Blue-ray disc play on a 1080i TV? Or will it be incompatible with my TV? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

The PS3 can output in 1080i and it will look great. I have my PS3 hooked up to a 720P projector and it looks awesome!

You can also try renting a Blu-Ray movie if you want to test things out and set up your connections properly.

Wow, I have to say you are the first on any of the forums I have ever been on to actually know where the name Kakihara comes from. People just don't understand good movies any more.
