I'd like to believe that they've used a new master or have reworked the transfer, but I supect it will be nothing a rehashed set of extras and fancy packaging. If that is the case Play's price of £17.99 doesn't look too clever...

...and just noticed it has a DD 5.1, which can't be right.

Much as I'd love to see the unrated cut I suspect it'll just have the extras bumped up to those of the double disc DVD

I will wait and see if any information on a new master pops up.

An example of two titles from the same studio:
Stargate 15th Anniversary got a new master.
Terminator 2 skynet edition did not get a new master just had the old one tweaked.

It can go either way realy.

This is intriguing;

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...steelbook.html

Looks like they're releasing a steelbook version of Total Recall in Germany in June, which also purports to be remastered. We can only hope that the edition in Play.com has the same transfer...

the steelbook alone wouldn't prompt me to buy it but. I am really hoping for a new master but if both were to happen then I am sold and its mine

germany will get this release too. According to bluray-disc.de it got a new transfer and 5000 limited Steelbooks to Germany. If the Uk will get a Steel too we don't know yet.

Believe me, the current Optimum release of Total Recall looks excellent. And you can get it for about 6 or 7 pounds. There is no need to shell out all that money for this new version.

Even if the new edition is remastered, it's doubtful they spent a large amount of money on the film. That Optimum Blu-ray is pretty good.

I don't know how I feel about this new edition. Will they just port across the previous master,(which looks good), and slap the DVD extras on there, or will they attempt to re-master it? Colour me cautious.

Indeed it does look good, I have seen it before. I don't mind waiting a bit longer to see what this new edition has though.. the first release should stay at a low price untill then.

RoboCop got a longer version
Basic Instinct had a longer version (in Europe)
Showgirls got extended
Even Hollow Man got a longer version

I want the same treatment with Total Recall (and more extras)

Hey dudes. Total Recall's new blu-ray looks excellent. That's how Predator new BD should have looked.
