Default Uh, oh. I've got the itch.

Despite my best efforts I think I'm going to fall into the pressures and order an eD-a2-300. I keep going back and forth, as I'm a pretty big tight wad, but I suspect the improvement over my current sub will really be a pleasant surprise.

Do you guys think the difference between my current sub, and the a2-300 will be very noticeable and fairly amazing? I've never heard a quality sub, and just don't quite know what to expect, just more powerful, or clarity as well?

I plan to make my final decision within a day or two.

OH YES!!!!!! You don't know what you are missing in real LFE by a quality sub. I don't want to put down your current sub but that's not a sub but a sound box.

Don't worry about minor insults. That was well before I knew anything about home audio. Knowing why I'm using now, will there be any issue continuing to use the receiver, with the a2-300? It works fine for my polks. Obviously the eD has it's own amp, so should it be ok?

Also, would it even be worth it to keep my Onkyo sub and use both? Or, as you say it's just a sound box... So woul it just muddy it up?

I wouldnt use both, I dont know what your sub now would compare to my old yamaha sub, but when i tried calibrating both, the yamaha was trying so hard to keep up with the eD sub and it just didnt sound right, and yes your receiver will work the with the new sub, You just hook it up by the Subwoofer out on your receiver

You can try using both, but i recommend buying an spl meter to calibrate the subs properly. See how it sounds to you. If you do try both subs, try moving the littlier sub by your seating position diaganoly from the e2-300

I have a meter for calibration. Just wasn't sure how it might work with the big quality difference. I've always seen that two are better than one, but I don't if that applies when one is ultra-cheap. The room design might allow me to put it in the best spot like you described. They might have to be next to my towers, I've seen some people doing that.

We'll see. First I have decide for sure, then I have to wait for it to get to me. I think it's several weeks wait now.

If you aren't sold on an A2-300, check out the BIC PL-200

http://www.sounddistributors.com/buy...red+Subwoofers

include the coupon code tv15 and it costs $280

Probably pretty similar in performance to the A2-300, but it looks better, it's cheaper, lighter, and you don't have to be put on a waiting list.

Well I was pretty much sold since everyone says it's by far the best sub for the price.

Sorry for the highjack, but how do you think that would go with an Energy ESW V10? Good match? Seem to be close in specs and size, other than it's a 12 incher.

The eD would be a HUGE improvement over the sub you have now. I also replaced an Onkyo sub with the "real" sub I have now so I know exactly where you're coming from.

I didn't bother to read any of the posts in this thread, but my advice to you is have a doctor look at you right away, and if it starts burning it might be too late.

I'm sure with an SPL meter and a bit of tweaking you can make them go together quite nice. So I hear at least. I own the VK-12 and it's a lot of bang for the buck.

Looking at this
Elemental Designs A2-300 ($350 ID/SI): 83 points (44-39)
SVS PB10-NSD ($429 ID): 83 points (43-40)
Dana Audio 600 ($869 ID): 83 points (36-47)
Rocket X-Sub ($199 ID): 78 points (34-44)
BIC H-100 ($229 eBay): 78 points (40-38)

Lists the BIC H-100 just under the A2-300. The PL-200 is a step up from the H-100 which I assume would put it a few points closer to the A2-300. You can get the H-100 for $200 or the PL-200 for $280. Just my thing for thinking they are both pretty similar. But nobody can be sure until both are reviewed side by side though.

You got that itch huh, try washing with soap and warm water! then apply a generous helping of a new subwoofer, your affected area will heal up nicely and you will feel much better!

What kind of differences could you expect going from an Onkyo sub to the A2-300? Have a look for yourself.
