I know there are some animal lovers here and with that, some animals like heat. Specifically - cats. Our cats love to lay on the cable boxes. I don't see an issue with that as I always keep them clean. However, the pics below may shock you.

This was my brothers cable box. His cat loved laying on it. Before I put it back into use, I noticed some hair inside. Little did I realize how much it was until I took the cover off. Yes, it appears to be half a cat! Lol.

It is now clean.

+1. No wife though. I tend to stay away from dating females with cats (more than one is a bad sign). I clean my stuff weekly. I remember taking apart my desktop pc many years ago and it looked something similar to the cable box picture. Frequent dusting/cleaning of your home theater gear is a must unless you want it dying on you.

Cats love rubbing up against any source of heat, which most electronics are these days. That was an extreme fire hazard in those pictures.

My dad took the back off our CRT TV and I could not believe how much dust and stuff was in it.
