Default Bait 3D (2011)

I am intrigued by this. Sounds good. Russell Mulcahy is a hit or miss director in my opinion. He'll make a good movie and then he'll make a movie that downright sucks. So, he has a new movie called Bait. Read below, people.

Quote:
It’s great that Russell Mulcahy is still getting work. The Australian director, a music video pioneer during the '80s who went on to helm numerous films, is getting ready to make a 3-D suspense film called Bait, about sharks run amok.

Mulcahy talked about his next project during a midnight screening of Razorback, his 1984 feature about a giant wild boar, hosted by STYD. "Sharks in a supermarket" is how he described Bait, which will be filmed in Australia. The plot revolves around characters trapped in a flooded underground supermarket, which gets invaded by a pack of tiger sharks.

It sounds like good, disposable fun, and Mulcahy said he was excited about the prospect of making the film in 3-D. Along with music videos, his film output during the '80s and '90s includes sci-fi and action movies such as Highlander, Highlander 2: The Quickening, Ricochet and The Shadow—several of which have been rumored for remakes.

"I hear there's a remake [of Highlander] which is fabulous. I made a huge mistake by doing Highlander II, man," Mulcahy laughed. "I lost my agent over that one, or he lost me. The thing about Highlander is that it was a made as a film with a beginning and an end. He became mortal. It was never designed to be sequelized. So all of the sequels are so contrived, but I hear the new Highlander is a fresh take on the original idea which is fine and great. I'm all for that."

As for the possible new version of The Shadow with Sam Raimi directing, Mulcahy said: "Great, I think they'll do a better job."

Mulcahy has also been doing lots of television work lately; he recently shot the pilot of Teen Wolf for MTV, which is based on the 1985 comedy starring Michael J. Fox, but will reportedly go in a different direction tonally.

Some news! Julian McMahon is in!

Quote:
Some casting news coming out of AFM for Kimble Rendall's Bait 3D, which is currently in production. Ready to find out exactly who has been chumming the waters? Wait no more!

Xavier Samuel (Twilight: Eclipse, The Loved Ones), Julian McMahon (Red, Fantastic Four, Faces in the Crowd), Sharni Vinson (Step Up 3D, Blue Crush 2), Phoebe Tonkin (Tomorrow When the War Began), Martin Sacks, Alice Parkinson (Sanctum), Alexander Russell (Wasted on the Young), Qi Yuwu, Adrian Pang, Lincoln Lewis, and Damien Garvey will all star.

Synopsis
"In a sleepy beach community shoppers at an underground supermarket are terrorized by a crazed bandit when the unimaginable occurs:

A monstrous freak tsunami swallows the town.

Now trapped, with rushing water threatening to entomb them in a watery grave the survivors discover they are not alone.

The tsunami has brought unwanted visitors from the depths. Not only must they overcome the threat of drowning and the predator within their midst, but a threat far more deadly and far more bloodthirsty - packs of hungry tiger sharks."

As long as it's not a proposed sequel to The Dark Knight Rises.
