Yeah, I read this about 2 weeks ago. Sounds like a great receiver.......on paper, that is.

As cool as the Sony looks, and I have been looking, I can't get past the price. I guess we'll see what the street price is once it is out, but Sony Style had it listed in September now. The Onkyo 705 just showed up at Frys here...

I have about decided that the 5300 is what I am going to get to replace my Pioneer VSX-84TXSi. I had to upgrade firmware in my Pioneer because the sub-woofer channel was real weak only on PCM streams which is about all I did with Blu-ray anymore. Other than that it served me very very well. I'll probably wait until I see a 1.1 profile player that outputs the raw TrueHD or DTS-MA. I hope it mates with my Paradigm Studios! There's a great place in Austin that will let me hear it before I buy.

yeah the price seems steep but i'm sure it will availible cheaper online, i'd like to compare it with the Onkyo TX-NR905 and the new denons side by side

Boycott Onkyo, they are helping HDDVD in this format war. Don't throw money their way, they don't deserve it.
