Anyone else a fan of this show? I REALLY enjoyed it last season, although I was slow to get into it.

My favorite character has to be Zoe, just because of how cluelessly sweet she was. Can't wait to see her back this year.



Besides, how can you NOT just love a cute adorable woman that says the following in an interview:

“I have no idea academically how it works or technically if she is a student nurse,” Weaver said. “But the first season was a lot more, for her, about being new, the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, enthusiastic newbie. And some time has gone by, and she gets to spread her wings a little and she's a little more comfortable, takes on a little more responsibility, that kind of stuff.”

Nurse Jackie herself hasn’t quite rubbed off on her yet, but Zoey’s trying. “I think she's still following her chosen mentor, yeah. I think, she's still following, but she's starting to learn some stuff for herself.”

Zoey’s love life will heat up this year too.

I've already seen that one actor will not be back for Season 2, and that's

I’m taking about Mohammed “Mo-Mo” De La Cruz, the sasstastic gay nurse played by Haaz Sleiman. A Showtime rep confirmed that Sleiman is no longer with the acclaimed dramedy (which returns on March 22), but provided no further details. A rep for Sleiman, meanwhile, says producers felt “the character’s storyline ran its course… We were surprised. It came out of left field.”



Adding insult to injury, I just screened the first two episodes of Season 2 and Mo-Mo’s departure isn’t even addressed. Not even his best bud Jackie acknowledges his absence. It’s as if he never existed! (UPDATE: It has been brought to my attention that Jackie does, in fact, give her former BFF a teensy shout-out within the first two episodes. And I do mean teensy. I’m not surprised I missed it.)

Also you should go back and watch the rest of them. Especially the last two or three episodes, because it ends with a cliffhanger, and things are building up involving several characters, and everything seems to come to a head in the final ep, with the fallout to be I imagine in the 1st ep back.

Well, here's what happens, and if anyones going to watch season 1 for the 1st time, don't click the spoiler link.

[Show spoiler]She'd been having sex with Eddie (aka Ryan Chappelle in 24, post headshot) and Eddie didn't know she had a family. She never told anyone that she had a kid and a guy.

So Eddie is in love with her, and follows her one day (I think two or three eps from the finale) and is watching her through the bar window as she's hugging on her guy and the kids are at the bar coloring or something.

So Eddie's all f*cked up over this, and her lying to him, and so he gets just shitfaced drunk and shows up at the hospital acting an ass. He had already been layed off because they got some new pill-o-matic machine that did his job for them.

So before leaving though he showed her a trick where she could still cop all the drugs she wanted, without having to enter the code that would identify what she took and who took it.

So he shows up at the hospital and pretty much lets her know exactly what he knows, and insinuated that he was going to tell her husband what was going on.

She panics and ends up getting a ton of liquid morphine out of the machine and gives herself an overdose.

The last shot of the season was her laying on her back staring up at the camera, and everything went to white and she's like up in the clouds or some shit.

Pretty crazy finale and I was so pissed that I had to wait til this year to find out what would happen. lol.

At that time I didn't even know if there WOULD be a season 2, and I was, "oh hellllllllllllll no!" lol

Well I didn't know if the show was going to be on for a second season, and must have missed the renewal notice.

I'll try and catch up on last season before March 22nd, just seems like I have a lot of tv to catch up on this month after the long hiatus of Flashforward and V, not to mention Fringe. I also have something like 40 episodes of legend of the seeker to watch haha.

Fourth episode aired tonight and all I gotta say is Jackie's gonna end up beating the shit out of Eddie if not worse. lol. I thought she was gonna grab him by the throat when she went by his job.

The ambulance scene was hilarious.

People need to watch this show!

So the finale of season 2 aired tonight. Couple thoughts.

1. How funny was

[Show spoiler]Coop when Sam said "you slept with my girlfriend, didn't you?" and he said "Yes. Yes I did." lmao. Almost like he expected some type of thank you.

2. The ending to this one seemed to mirror last season's, where seemingly everything is falling down around her. At least THIS year

[Show spoiler]her husband found out about her taking O'Hara's money for the kid's school and her addiction to pills (thanks to the post office box key he found).

But this leads me to wonder if they are going to cop out like they did with last year's finale leading into this year's premiere.

[Show spoiler]Are they going to sweep the drug deal thing under the rug the way they did her overdosing and laying on the hospital room floor at the end of last season?

This season they pick up days/weeks later and there's no mention of it. No one found her after she took two or three minibottles of liquid morphine????

I just hope they carry that over, because there's no effing way that that drug dealer is going to get bodyslammed by Thor and not come back looking for his drugs. I almost expected him to show up on the beach while she was sitting there at the end.

Great finale though to another great season. Wish it was longer than 30 minutes each though.

So nobody is talking about this show anymore? Does anyone watch it? Just watched the finale last night and it's crazy to see the evolution of Jackie into this Walter White-ish character.

I wrote up my thoughts on this, if anyone is interested. A snippet below and then the link:

NOTE: SPOILERS FOR SEASON 6 OF NURSE JACKIE/SERIES OF BREAKING BAD.

Over the years we have seen Jackie evolve from this average ho-hum nurse who, while doing extraordinary things that cross the ethical and legal lines, was simply a human being trying to get by day to day. Then somewhere along the way she turned into something more, and it only really sunk in for me as I watched this season. It caused me to have a revelation as I watched the second to last episode:

Jackie Payton has turned into Walter White.

She may not be murdering people (although she almost killed someone in the next to last episode) but she definitely is engaging in this Machiavellian strategy of destroying anyone who gets in her way, and any and everyone that crosses her path in some way is worse off for it. I mean just look at the results:

Kevin was a really nice and good guy who has turned into a bitter and angry man who is struggling to get on with his life with a woman he loves, Mia, and his two daughters after all that Jackie has done in their marriage.

Grace, who while having some problems, went completely sideways after her mother's actions were revealed, and is now doing drugs, shoplifting, and just having zero respect for her mother at all, even mouthing the words "**** you" after humiliating her mother by revealing, in a malicious fashion, that her father was getting remarried, as Jackie walked out of the room to avoid crying in front of her. Mind you this was in a POLICE STATION as Grace was arrested for shoplifting.

Zoey Barkow, the All Saints Hospital Resident cheerful Nurse has had her naivete wiped away by the realization that Jackie has been manipulating everyone around her in such a stunning way. I completely spaced on the fact that the fake ID she made for the dying nun, so the Nun would take the fall for using Dr. Roman's DEA card, was made using the picture Zoey took on her iphone. When Zoey revealed that to Jackie in the finale I let out an "ohhhhhh Shit!". I'm not sure how I missed that, but man, that was a super low point on Jackie's part.

The fact that Zoey was able to stand up to Jackie, someone she has always respected and looked up to, and who in the past she would simply lower her eyes and run away when Jackie would lash out at her, was a remarkable leap in her evolution as a character. You could see she is no longer the bright eyed girl who first started in Season 1, especially how she reacted to the Zoey-Like bubbly intern who came in, basically taking the Jackie role of telling her to sit down and listen and watch what she does.

The list of casualties of Jackie land go on and on. Dr. Roman, having her DEA card used and, and then Jackie lying about her to save her own ass in the finale, Antoinette, Jackie's former sponsor, who Jackie manipulated into relapsing, so Jackie could get her admitted into a facility to keep her from exposing Jackie's addictions to Akalitus, to Frank who seemed to be yet another really great guy that was too good for Jackie.

I made the comparison to Walter White, and I think it stands. Walter was someone who put on this mask of a mild mannered individual, someone who you would never really give a second glance at, and yet he was pulling the strings in the background. He was a drug kingpin, Heisenberg, sitting right in front of his DEA brother in law's face, hiding in plain sight.

In Nurse Jackie, she is hiding in plain sight in a hospital setting, tons of access to drugs. They know he's a recovering addict, and yet she is given the benefit of the doubt due to how well she has played everyone around her. Akalitus started to see through that in the end, when she seemed to catch on that maybe Jackie played her by having her "accidentally" run over Jackie's foot in order to secure a drug prescription that she made Akalitus think was her idea, thus giving her a reason she would fail the drug test that Jackie knew was coming.
