I would still like to see a better DRM solution and subtitle options on movies/tv shows.

DRM tied to your machine is not good at all, it has shied me away from purchasing a couple of TV Shows that I wanted to watch. Ideally it should be like games DRM, tied to your account and you can inactivate your account and get that DL back. So say I have a PSP, a PS3 in the living room and a PS3 in the bedroom, then I only need to purchase the content once, with Sony moving to offer PSN in the form of SOS to more devices, the kind of DRM they have now is not acceptable.

Default Sony signs up all six major studios for HD movies on PlayStation Network

Quote:
Well, it looks like Sony has a little treat for PS3 users now that they're able to turn their consoles back on -- it's just announced that it has signed up all six major studios to deliver HD movies on the PlayStation Network (the first company to do so, as Sony is happy to point out). That includes 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Warner Bros. and, of course, Sony Pictures Entertainment, which combined have an initial slate of 19 HD movies available to buy or rent -- including "Fantastic Mr. Fox," "Star Trek," "District 9," "Inglourious Basterds," and "The Wizard of Oz," to name a few. Those are only available in the US at the moment, but Sony says it plans to also roll them out to the U.K., France, Germany, and Spain "soon."

Uhhhh unless im missing something, haven't we been able to own HD movies for awhile now? I've always seen the "own" option with some titles.

I think it's a press release about getting all 6 studios on board which is a first for any online store.

$20 for movies? Id rather get the BR versions which are cheaper, include the extras and can be played anywhere

Even though I don't buy or rent often from PSN this is excellent news! The PS3 has really taken off sales wise lately and this type of stuff will do nothing but help.

Xbox Live is just now getting movies from fox, haha, wow. Saw it today on my cousins 360 dashboard. I wonder if this sony announcement has anything to do with it. I mean it's been more than 3 years since they launched the video store and they've never had fox, unless they had some type of problem with them.
