Just checked on Ezydvd and have the 10th anniversary edition from universal coming out on the 5 may but it is the standard Dvd for $14.97 no mention yet of blu-ray.

The Distributor of Gladiator in Australia is Universal not Paramount.

A new version is being releases, called the "10th Anniversary Edition." It is suppose to use a better master, thus better PQ than the first release (which is currently out now).

Australia Gladiator Blu Ray quality

Hi,
I need someone to clarify something for me.

I've been reading a lot about the bad gladiator blu ray release in US and UK, and how Paramount are exchanging peoples discs for the new remastered.
Is this bad picture quality an issue in Australia? Or is the edition that was released late last year in Australia for the first time, remastered.

The most information I could find was that Universal released Gladiator in Aus, not paramount. Does that mean us Aussies don't need to worry about this whole bad picture quality thing?

Also, if the 2009 release is as crap as everyone says, does anyone know of an exchange program for us Aussies?

It's the same crappy version everyone else got.

Paramount used Universal's transfer, that was the problem. All releases were affected.

Not as of yet. A number of people have contacted Universal with no success.

There is a slipcovered version that's shown up in stores recently, though I haven't been game enough to buy it as I don't want the hassle of having to try and get something done about it if it's the old one. It only appeared within the last month or so, replacing the tin version so whether it contains the new transfer or not is anyone's guess. Fingers crossed though.

You didn't notice the year of release or a "Pocket Blu" Logo on the back?
