I LOVED Napoleon Dynamite and I havent seen a thread about this movie is it worth the blind buy if you enjoyed ND?

I loved Napoleon Dynamite but did not really care for this one. Sam Rockwell was amusing, but the movie tries to hard to be different and, for lack of a better word, oddball. I would recommend a rental first.

Do NOT blind buy this. I almost did, and I would've kicked myself. I spent $3.99 to rent it on my Apple TV, and I felt like even that was a rip-off.

No, no, no. There are maybe 2 or 3 really good moments, but overall, the movie just falls flat on it's face with a load of dead-pan humor.

I'm wondering how a film that contains the likes of Sam Rockwell & Jemaine Clement can lack the funny. Are they just really small characters or something?

I loved this movie. But, with its unpopularity I'm assuming I will be able to buy it under $10 in the near future.

Just watched this movie and did not like it at all. I'm a nerdy sort of sci-fi/fantasy geek and I liked Napoleon Dynamite well enough, but this just did not work for me. The plot is absolutely plodding, most of the scenes just aren't that funny, and the characters are not very likeable. Clement is fairly amusing, and some of the sci-fi script enactments are kind of funny, but the remaining hour of the film goes nowhere. Definitely rent before buying...

It was a blind buy for me, and I thought Gentlemen Broncos was great. Sam Rockwell stole the show with his renditions of Bronco and alter-ego Brutus. I think overall, it's like Napoleon Dynamite with the weirdness cranked all the way up... but I like that sort of thing.

As others have stated, it's not a great film. But Jemaine Clement's scenes make it worthwhile for me - particularly his writing workshop scene. Sam Rockwell also kills it in his 2 roles. Mix in some awful sci-fi artwork, jr. high-level body humor, and some bonus Sam Rockwell outtakes and I can stomach the rest of its shortcomings.
