Kate Winslet splits from Mendes

This is not the Hollywood ending we wanted for Kate Winslet. Last year's Academy Award winner proved she could delay, but unfortunately not break, the Oscar curse, this morning announcing she was separating from her husband of nearly seven years, director and fellow Oscar winner Sam Mendes. The press-shy couple gave no official reason for their split, choosing instead to announce the sad news through their mutual lawyer. "Kate and Sam are saddened to announce that they separated earlier this year," Keith Schilling of London-based law firm to the stars Schillings said. "The split is entirely amicable and is by mutual agreement. Both parties are fully committed to the future joint parenting.
