How random - still nice though. Since it's Universal they'll both be region-free.

However, if they're going to be flippers then I'll flip out.

from thedigitalbits.com

In other news today, Universal has announced a pair of new catalog Blu-ray titles that have us pretty excited: Darkman and Flash Gordon are expected to street on 6/15. Looks like everything from the previous DVDs will be included... which is to say not much. Darkman has nada, while Flash will include a pair of featurettes (Alex Ross, Renowned Comic Artist, On Flash Gordon and Writing a Classic: Screenwriter Lorenzo Semple, Jr.) and the first episode of the classic Flash Gordon 1936 serial. Now, if Universal wanted to do something REALLY cool, they should include the ENTIRE 1936 serial in HD. I'm just saying. I'd LOVE to have that on Blu-ray. Anyway... audio will be DTS-HD MA for both.

I'm trying not to upgrade everything that comes out on Blu, but I'm weak and those two are tempting.

Well, since I already have the "Darkman Trilogy" boxset that came out a couple of years ago, I think I'll skip this one. A better transfer alone isn't enough of a reason for me to spend $25 or more on a barebones release. Now, if they did a commentary with Neeson & Raimi, and threw in a couple more extras, I might change my mind...but otherwise, consider me out.

i really doubt it will cost that much...ive never spent that much on a bluray period and this is a lesser known catalog title. i got the trilogy set for 6.99 new so ill have no problem upgrading. cant pass up a good raimi flick.

In for Flash Gordon!

It's a totally campy B movie but I have a soft spot for this one from when I was a kid.

I just recently wathed the last special edition DVD and was surprised at how good it looked.

This Blu-ray will hopefully look awesome. This has such a comic book feel to it with lots of bright colors.

Sci-Fi flick with a blaring Queen soundtrack, what's not to love!

Finally!

Been waiting for Flash Gordon, and I'll take Darkman also. Both are guilty pleasure movies for me.

I double-dipped on the latest Flash Gordon DVD release a couple of years ago, the Best Buy exclusive with the extra Alex Ross "lithographs". But I was sad to not be knocked over by the PQ then. I know BD is a better format, but I wouldn't be surprised that it was the original source material that just ain't gonna be all that impressive to begin wiht. So this time, I'm not in as big a rush to triple-dip on FLASH! (sheeee-boom)--ahhhh! Not until I read some reviews of it anyway.

As long as the audio is lossless for FG, I am good. Ah well, who wants to live forever...

I thought Darkman was awesome when I saw it as a youngster in the 90's...caught it on cable the other day, and Christ that thing is awful now. Time has not been kind to that movie, suffice to say.

Definitely in for Darkman and possibly Flash depending upon what it's priced at and what kind of a mood I'm in.
