Default Noob question

I just got my first HDTV, a Vizio VA370M.
So far, I am LOVING it. The picture is great, and it also works well as a monitor.

However, I'm having a little trouble with the audio. My Macbook only outputs video through the Mini DisplayPort, which I have hooked up using an HDMI adapter. I also have the audio hooked up via 1/8 to RCA, but I can't figure out how to combine that with the video. Either I choose to display the HDMI input (just video) or AV input (just audio).

Is there a workaround that I can do?

i'm not familiar with how Vizio does HDMI digital/analog switching, but this is how Panasonic does it.
There should be an analog(RCA) audio connection that works with the HDMI input and in the user menu there should be an option for HDMI audio, either digital, analog or auto. Choose analog.

or the menu might have an option to link another inputs(component, video1, etc.) analog audio to the HDMI input

I figured out that the TV recognizes if the HDMI port has no audio, and it will default to the 1/8 input on the back. Once I plugged in to that input, it started working.
Thanks for your help.
