vsx-21txh and phat ps3 midnight mode - Blu-ray Forum

Hi folks,

Does anyone have this receiver and an old ps3 that requires PCM streaming, and still have midnight mode work?

Sorry, upgrading from an Onkyo 702 and it's not clear how this will work.

You have a couple of options.

You can do the compression in the PS3. That would be optimal for TrueHD tracks, where you can use Dolby Dynamic Range Control. However, I do not know whether the PS3 has Nightmode that can be used with dts-MA tracks.

Or, you can use the Midnight setting on the AVR, which should work with PCM sources.

Thanks - I am fine using it on the receiver - I just didn't know if it would work with a PCM source, or if it required TrueHD or DTS MA to be coming from the ps3.
